Exclamation Potty Training??? Rant about husband.

Okay, so my daughter is almost 3 and up till now, we haven't done any serious trying with the potty training, so for the first time with being serious, I had her on a schedule of putting her on the potty every hour and I had her in panties and pants only. I did not use any diapers all day except for the use of a pull up for night time. She did pretty good in the fact that she stayed dry for a good portion of the day. I made sure my husband knew the schedule and knew that she could not be in diapers anymore from the moment she wakes up in the morning till bed time. The reason why: Because she doesnt pee in the potty if she knows she can pee in her diaper AND because she has been in diapers so long, she is not used to the feeling of being wet because diapers are so absorbent.

So yesterday was the first day and it was hard and messy but we survived. So I am sleeping this morning, and my husband gets her up and gives her breakfast and when I wake up and give her a hug, I notice that she is still in her DIAPER!!!!! 4 hours after she has woken up..and man oh man was i just PI$$ED!!

Me: "Why is she in a diaper?"
Husband: "Well, she doesn't have any underwear?"
Me: " Uh yes she does, in her top drawer in her room?"
Husband: "Oh , i thought they were all in the washer?"
Me: "NO.....her top drawer is full of underwear".
Husband: "Oh"
Me: "Did you even look to see if she had any in her top drawer?"
Husband: "No"
Husband: "I am still putting her on the potty"
Me: "Well thats great, but as long as she is wearing a diaper, she has no need to pee in the potty and she goes back to being de-sensitized to being wet, which is what we worked on all day, trying to reverse".
Husband: "I am on board with this"
Me: "Great, because you can spend your next day off re-training her all over again".

RAHHHH!!! Sorry..but this is the umpteenth time where I have started potty training her and we make it through the first day or half a day and then when Daddy gets home from work, he doesnt bother to continue with the schedule or bother to take part of it and its pointless. I need him to be on board with the plan and he is not! I dont know why, considering he is always complaining about the cost of paying for diapers.

-End of Rant-

I'm so sorry you are going through this with your husband.

But if you want to chuckle, I did read the subject of this thread like you were trying to potty train HIM!

Hopefully she will be trained quick and it will be all undies from now on soon!

Aw shucks, don't sweat it mama! She'll get there. I TOTALLY understand the frustration though. My beebs is 3 too and we went through the same struggles. If a grandparent or daddy put a diaper on her, she had no motivation to use the potty! I have a younger son so I couldn't just get rid of all the diapers in the house, but you might consider it! I bought my girl some of those thick night-undies for bed time, and tons of undies and then gave away all the larger size diapers...my fiance would still use the smaller diapers, haha! But you might have a chance if you don't have any younger children! Good luck, she'll be squared away before you know it!

I'm sorry, I totally sympathize, I have been trying the same but daddy lets him wear a diaper until it's ready to explode... he's 3 next month and won't tell me if he needs to pee. I have no answers for this.

No advice, just total sympathy. My sister in law is struggling with this exact same thing right now.

That really sucks. But, like with our "diets" or "lifestyle changes," one day won't totally ruin everything.

Is you hubby using the diapers as a security thing? Like he doesn't have to worry about cleaning up a mess if she uses them?

Maybe if hubby isn't entirely on board you could try cloth diapers? I understand that they're less absorbent and make it easier for children to potty train (they feel more like real underwear and children notice they're wet) but still contain messes.

It sure is frustrating when your SO isn't on the same page!

Try making a special toy box with something she really loves and only let her get it when she is in the potty and tell daddy to get on the potty wagon. It's frustrating to you and confusing for her and I'm sure he doesn't want to do that. My boys really responded well to the rewards and pretty soon she won't even want to wear the diaper anymore.

Lol I also read the title like your potty training your husband.
