Default Ready to jog....?

I joined a gym in the middle of January, started out with the treadmill and just did a moderate walking pace. About mid February or early March I felt I the walking on the treadmill was getting too easy so I upgraded to the eliptical and it is now almost May and I feel like the eliptical almost just isnt cutting it. I do about 4-5 days a week for roughly 40 minutes. Would it be or wouldnt it be a good idea to start jogging? I am just worried about my weight affecting my joints and wondering if I might be ready to jog. I am currently 225lbs and 5 foot 3. Thank you

I have just one thing to say: Couch to 5K. Seriously. It's a good bridge between walking and flat-out running and a great way to go slow so that you don't burn yourself out too quickly. I just started Week 4 yesterday and I am *amazed* at how well it's going. And if you don't want to do it in nine weeks, you can stretch it out for as long as you need to! It's the perfect way to become a runner.

I never jogged or ran in my life and am now in Couch to 5K week 6. I love it and can't believe that *I* can run!!! We have a thread going on in the Exercise forum since my first day. It's really taken off with a group of us and we are all in different weeks/stages.

It's not the easiest exercise I have ever done but the satisfaction of seeing how far I have come is priceless.

I hope you join us!

This made me think of this

I'll go with everyone else, start by doing short segment of running paired with walking, it is the best way to start. Good luck!!
