Hi , I`m currently on a desperate search for a pen pal for my niece who has autism and is struggling to fit in with her peers.
When my daughter was younger she had pen pals and loved it and I thought it would be a great idea to find someone for my niece who was more like her that she could write to , or email or even talk to over the webcam. It would help with her social interaction, confidence, and make her feel like she has a friend of her own. She is a twin and her sister is very popular which can make it even harder for her. If theres anyone out there who can help me or know of any safe sites I can find people on I would be so grateful.

Do you want the pen pal to also be around 9? If not, I'd suggest your local high school's National Honor Society chapter. I'm not sure if they exist in the UK, but NHS chapters usually require their members to earn community service hours and this may count towards that.

Hi bailey, I'm a mom of two autistic little boys. I am to old to be her pal but if you have facebook there are alot of support pages that can put you in touch with other kids her age. I think this is a wonderful idea. Please let me know if I can be of anymore help to you and her.

That's a great idea thinforme I`ll see what I can find today, thank u all for your help. I emailed a group that was supposed to be a pen pal site for people with special needs but Ive not heard back from them. I have also found tons of normal pen pals site for kids but I definitely want her to find someone who is more like her. I just know she would love to find a friend who was just for her and wouldn't judge her on being "different" .
