I don't want to lose motivation, but I go back to work soon
Ok, so here's the deal. I go back to work April 22nd from 7:45-4:30pm and I am afraid that I will lose all this motivation when I go back because I often get tired during the day and just want to sleep when I get home. Yes, before surgery, I pushed myself to go do that mile. However, I'm worried I won't want to after having a month off of work. :/ during the past few weeks I have been on a restriction of nothing to exceed 10 pounds...which is literally everything but the remote. So I've been reading motivational books and all that great stuff. I've also vowed to start walking that mile everyday again. Easier said than done. Once I'm doing it I'm great, it's the initial get off my butt to go that's the issue.
I like short-term challenges and/or daily accountability: posting somewhere (on the exercise thread, or on a challenge thread) helps motivate me to get the exercise in.
Also, when you're working, do you get enough sleep? I tend to sleep deprive myself a little--not a lot, just like 6 or 7 hours rather than 8. I find on days when I get a full night's sleep that I'm much better able to recover when I get home and still have some energy left.
Can you do it in the mornings? I'm exhausted after work (I have 13 hour days, full time student and I work full time as well) - so by the time I get home, if I can actually cook a meal let alone exercise, its a good day. I've had to start doing things in the morning before I leave. It's a pain in the butt since I'm a night person but it's the only way. Do you have a friend or family member that would be interested in joining you? You don't have to actually be together to work out. My BFF, who lives 12 hours away, "workouts" with me. We call eachother before each of our workouts to make sure the other one is actually going to be doing it , and then we call each other after.

You can do this!
I do get enough sleep during the night, my day is just so exhausting. I work with preschool children with Special Needs and it's such a fast paced environment that it just wears me out. I will check out the challenge thread, it sounds like fun! Thanks for your feedback!

I do have my boyfriend who is also losing weight with me and he's great. He's the guy who never tells me what to do though. So if I say, let's just go tomorrow, lets go tomorrow, he won't tell me otherwise.
Mornings don't work well for me just because it's already stressful enough waking up at 4am when Josh goes to work, wake up again at 6, shower, try to get everything ready, play with the dog, it's time to go to work almost right after.
I would take my dog for a walk in place of playing with her but she doesn't do well on the leash. She's a spoiled little chiweenie haha
I work with special needs adults in a workshop. i work from 8:15-3:15. im always tired when i get home to, i usually eat dinner and the take about hr nap. i wake up refreshed and i head to the gym. but if u don't have a membership walk around the block. i know this might sound creepy and weird but i like to walk around our local cemetery. (during daylight hrs) there is no one around and its quite peaceful. depending on the weather during the day i walk around my building on breaks and lunch. hope this helps a lil.
I'd walk around during my lunch break at work if it wasn't so close to fast food and gas stations. The temptations are still too new for me to be able to rationalize what I should and shouldn't have. I also quit smoking a month and a half ago and I still crave one here and there, I know how easy it is to go get one Prime Time and smoke and let down my guard. My philosophy is, if it's too tempting stay in your safe zone until you have people there to tell you no!
I'm going to try do do my mile 4 days a week with yoga in between. That way if I don't do yoga one day at least my cardio goal is met weekly
I hate breaking promises I made to myself. It makes me feel like a failure in life. So if I make a promise, I keep it. Make a promise to yourself, and be true to yourself!
If you wanna walk a mile per day; then walk a mile per day. It is only 15 minutes out of your life and you will feel so good afterwards.
I promised myself that I was going to walk 5 miles 6 times per week and that I was going to go to the gym every Mo Wed, and Fri...again, I hate disappointing myself therefore I have kept my word.
