I did weight watchers on and off for awhile and gained and lost the same 5lbs, like you, but have recently started calorie counting and find it way more effective. If you have a smart phone, there is an app called myfitnesspal that is fabulous for calorie counting. Love it! Maybe it's the one you already have

I also use map my walk to track my walking. I'm looking forward to the new fitbit flex, since most of my exercise is done in the pool.
