Default Losing It: America's Obsession with Weight...

I found this book at Dollar General Store (for only 75 cents!) and I thought it might be kind of bad being as it was so cheap---- but I bought it anyway and it is very very good. I am only a few chapters in and already I have learned so much about health and the diet industry. I highly recommend it!

Default great book

I bought this book too used for about 3 dollars. hard cover. anyway I really enjoyed it. if you read it you will be turned off to dieting.

She states alot of points that we all need to consider.

example" weight loss companies are quick to attribute failures to a lack of willpower. how can you be successful if you drop out? but more and more evidence suggests they may be blaming the victim. Physically, semi-starvation diets seem to increase the urge to overeat. the body isn't getting the energy it needs and clamore for more food. The situation has very little to do with willpower."

she also talks about how a panel of experts were brought together for a summit on why obesity was on the rise despite the dieting efforts of people. these were researchers doctors people who who expert in the fields of nutrition, exercise metabolism etc.

after all the discussion of the success and failure rates of different diets and exercise regimens, the conclusion of the whole thing was that diets don't work.

the summit was brought together by the national institutes of health.

table of contents. the inner corset
the truth that will change your life Diet Gurus
ten pounds in ten days diet scams
no satisfaction: fat-free adn fake foods
commerical diet groupls
first do no harm diet doctors
thinking disorders obesity researchers
a new paradigm anti diet researchers
eat your vegies and go outside and play anti diet health strategies

throwing our weight around. rebelling against the diet culture

So i recommend this book.

The reason the diet industry thrives - we all want to be able to look like a model and eat like a construction worker. There is no magic.
