You are right life is too short to waste time being unhappy.

Establish a list of things that you would like to address and let that be your starting point.
I was driving the other day to work and I have a running conversation in my head (I commute 45 miles 1 way to work) and I told myself I feel like my OLD SELF ! Which is a great thing...when I young I was the skinny kid who could eat whatever I wanted over the years things changed.
But that feeling of being my old self brought such peace over me ...like when you just Aced a big test ! I soo missed the old me I refused to even gaze at my own image in the mirror when I overweight...cuz in my head There was No Fat Girl only in the mirror or pictures was there someone that I did not recognize.
I failed over the years to put myself on the list of important things that I should nurture and like a plant that is not properly cared for my blooms were lack luster. I was happily nurturing everyone around me and being selfless when I should have carved out some time for myself. I have now developed a better balance in my life and I have enhanced my family and friends with a healthier me .
So if I could impart to you what has been beneficial for me is being ...positive and resilient. Don't waste time beating yourself up over mistakes ...lesson learned and move on.
Take this time to focus not obsess and formulate a doable plan for yourself.
There is only 1 perfect diet ...that's the 1 that you can make work for you.
I wish much luck with your weight loss and enjoy this time of rediscovering yourself, Roo2
