Default The Virgin Diet? need support

Hi everyone
My name is Wendy. I am thinking of trying the virigin diet. It involves eliminating the 7 most intolerated foods from your diet for 21 days and then slowly trying to reintroduce them to see what your intolerances are. i feel like i am always congested, bloated,my eczema had returned. Wondering if doing this would improve how I feel. The author challenges that even some of our diet foods might be the cause of us not losing weight because we have intolerance to those foods.
Anyone doing this.? I wiould love support of others going through this.

I've never heard of it, but that sounds really interesting. What are the foods you're eliminating?

I've never heard of it either, but it sounds like it would be beneficial to try, even if only for a little while. Best of luck to you!

My issue with this, is that you should be monitored by a doctor to make sure that you are accurately identifying the intolerance. For example a lot of people have temporary issues when dairy is removed and reintroduced but that doesn't necessarily mean you have a true intolerance.

That being said I know several people who have done this and it has changed their life for the better so good luck!

My husband, adult daughter and I have been on the Virgin Diet for 8 days, today. My daughter has lost 12 pounds, my husband 11 and I have lost 6. We are really liking the food, which surprised us, and our skin looks so much better that people are commenting on it. My joint pain is almost completely gone with the exception of a knee twinge when going down a steep set of stairs at the beach a couple of days ago.

I'm told there are inexpensive ways to do the diet, but we completely restocked our cupboards to all organic and ordered shakes and supplements for all three of us and it added up to quite a bit. Now this is for 3 people, and we knew going in that we would be doing this long term, so we consider it an investment in our well-being and our future. But if you have a tight budget, you may want to take a couple of months to eat up what you have and stock up on the allowed foods. My advice is to only buy produce for a couple of days at a time. We went whole hog and find that we don't eat as much(portion-wise) as we thought we would, so we're making a lot of soups and things that can be frozen for later.

The shakes and supplements were ordered a week ago and have not arrived yet. We were not given a tracking number, or time frame in which we should expect them, so if you choose to use the Virgin brand products you may want to order them ahead.

i wanted to start this jan 1st...but health and weather stuff got in the way.

then i tried feb 1st...but still couldnt do it. im going thru some pretty severe health stuff that the docs havent figured out and appts and tests were hard on me

i decided to do it except to allow myself eggs and dairy...hopefully when i am getting the hang of the gluten free i will be able to cut back on those too

i did the eating down and stack the cupboard thing and ithink that is helpful

i know i wont go back to eating sugar, corn or soy...i know they are bad for me.

it was impressive how much weight you 3 lost...do you exercise?

We don't exercise anything strenuously. We walk on the beach almost every day, and I do the stepper in the living room. We plan on getting more active. My husband surfed every day before he got prostate cancer and the radiation kicked his butt. He just got his cancer-free check up and intends to start again, but he needs to work up to it. A treadmill would be best for me, but we don't have the budget for it.

Hi- I am new to this site, and to this board. I am actually doing the Virgin Diet- I am in my 4th week. I had GREAT success with this diet during the elimination part. I lost 12 lbs, had energy and felt better than I had in years. I just recently introduced dairy and I am sensitive to this. ( this I was 99% sure was the case) You do need to follow her plan. You CAN NOT eat any of the 7 foods during the elimination period. Honestly once you introduce something that you are sensitive to- you will know!
