Red face New to site! Over weight mom who could use support!!

Hello, my name is Shawna. This is my first post. I'm 34, wife, mom of three beautiful kiddos, and a surgical nurse in my spare time.
I was always pretty thin growing up. I was 155 when I got married in 2002. That was the biggest I had ever been. Now, I would be ecstatic to be that size again! Three kids later, I'm 226. I hate to even post that! I am so embarrassed that I have let my weight get out of control! I have high BP, hypothyroidism, and recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I'm unhappy with my body. I hate going out with my girlfriends because I am the fat friend now. I have zero motivation, and am very good at making myself forget that I need to eat good when I'm hungry. I'm tired all the time! Every winter, I plan on working out and losing weight so I don't have to dread summer shorts. And every summer, I'm the same size I started as in the winter. I always put working out off. I tell myself that I will do it later, or tomorrow, but don't do it! I'm so frustrated with myself. I will b 35 in may. I'm tired of being fat! I want tol be hot again! I want to be able to fit in sexy clothes! I want my husband to be unable to keep his eyes off me. Of course he says he still thinks I'm beautiful, but I have a very hard time believing that, and I think it puts a strain on our marriage. I don't want to b naked around him. How could he be attracted to this body? When we started dating 13 yrs ago, I was 127. I'm 100 lbs heavier now! It's so sad! Please help me with advice, and support. I don't know where else to turn.

Hi there! We are kind of in the same boat. I'm a little older and have one less child, but our goals are about the same and I feel the same (about being the fat friend, etc.)

I'm down 15 pounds and have a ways to go. What I've done so far is take it day by day and I am really thinking about what I'm putting in to my mouth.

I really don't want to walk around the neighborhood (because I've been here 12 years and people have seen me balloon up and I cringe at even thinking about it), so I've been trying to hit the treadmill as soon as I come home from taking the kids to school. I don't set a time, just get on the thing and go. Getting on the the treadmill seems to be my obstacle. When I get on, I'm fine. I just do whatever I can do. Put the music on and go.

We still have a few months to go and I'm confident my small changes will get me somewhere. My goal is to be a good deal down from where I was last summer. I will not let myself be disappointed if I'm in the 150s or 160s. It will be a huge improvement. This is my first approach to living this way, and so far so good.

Good luck to you. You can do this, one day at a time. Keep us posted

Hi Shawna!

I totally understand!

I decided to take this year to spend some time on myself and get this weight off. It's not easy, that's for sure! I'm focusing on eating better, more whole foods and doing away with the processed foods, and exercising.

Hi there and welcome!

No need to be embarrased, we've all felt like that at some point.

Can you figure out what's changed since you were smaller? Any little variables you can tweak? Like, if you have less time or money now to eat and exercise the way you used to? (and yes, unofficial exercise does count! I used to walk a few miles every day on my lunch break and couldn't work out where the extra weight came from when I lost that job, because I didn't count it as exercise!).

I hope you get your health issues under control, that's the main thing. Hopefully the weight loss will be a nice side effect! Do you have a plan in mind, or little lifestyle changes you'd like to make? No matter what, there will probably be someone on here who has done the same thing and would be more than happy to talk about it
