Default Texas Girl Hoping to Lose...

Hello,

My name is Cini. I am currently in TX. I was born and raised here, but I love to travel and see other parts of the country and world. Texas, at least my part, is a bad place to be if you want to lose weight because there is delicious food on every corner. I could eat chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, and green beans every day. The only reason I don't is because the only good place is too far away and I hate traffic.

My boyfriend is in the US Army and worrying about him makes overeating that much easier. My big problem is that I see food as a comforting friend, a constant that is always there for me. That is the wrong way to think about it, it is just nourishment. My boyfriend's diet consists of oatmeal, fruit, fish/chicken, vegetables, and a little bread. He can't understand my obsession with food and his entire family is thin. My entire family could qualify for the Biggest Loser. So...that sucks.

Anyway, I am hoping to lose big, and that is why I am here.

Welcome. Alamo Here

BTW know what you mean about the whole family qualifying thing. Mine could too. But it takes that first step... which is why we are all here ... right?

Thanks @penmage and @ ichoosetobelieve for the warm welcome! Really appreciate it.

@ichoosetobelieve Yeah, everything depends on taking the first step. Glad to have that small victory behind me.

I'm a Texas gal myself, Cini! When they say "everything's bigger in Texas," they aren't kidding around. Our regular meal sizes here shock northerners and foreigners.

I don't know about you- but my weakness is a big bowl of pinto beans and cornbread. And chili. Just about anything with beans. Don't get me started on TexMex food. <3 ... Anyway, leaving behind my big-ol'-plate-o'-good-food-starved digression, I feel you. Food is great. I get sad, and my immediate reponse: EAT. I get bored: EAT. I get feeling good: EAT to celebrate!!

We're all in the struggle together, girl. I'm new to the forum as well, and my regular weigh-ins, as well as reading the successes of other and receiving support of folks like me, have really kept me optimistic (despite my generally pessimistic nature.) Keep at it, and let us help.

So, welcome to 3FS, and I hope to hear some success stories from you along your journey!!

@elvislover324 Thanks and good luck to you too, 100 lbs down is amazing

@raventhemind Yeah, Tex Mex is basically a legalized drug in this state. I can't tell you how many times I have stumbled out of a restaurant high on the sweet bliss that is Tex Mex. Feels good to know I am not alone in this. Thank you.

Hi,
Yes it is easier to pick a habit than kick it out. You are still young and you can train yourself and start eating healthy. Don't worry so much about your boy friend, god is in control. Good day.
