Default Spinning question

I went to a spinning class for the first time yesterday and loved it! It was so much easier on my body than running, especially right now as I've been a couch potato for a couple months. But my booty is sore - almost bruised. Not from muscle soreness, but from the seat being hard. Does anyone else have this problem? What do you do about it? Does it get better? I want to keep going but feel like I can't do it that often because of this. lol

Your "seat" bones will eventually develop calluses and you get used to it, but definitely wear padded cycling specific shorts for spinning... that should help with it as well...

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I felt so silly! I'll stay with it because I liked it, but I'm looking forward to this getting better. lol

I've been spinning for over 8 years! I love it!

But yes, my booty was sore like that. Now it doesn't bother me in the slightest. It really sucks when you start out if your legs aren't strong enough to stand up all the time. I remember my legs hurting so I couldn't stand...but then when I was sitting my booty hurt!

It takes a little bit, but once you get past all of that spinning is awesome. I'm totally addicted.

I love spinning!!! your butt is very sore the first few times. usually way worse the second or third time you go. but after a while, it stops being sore.

Yes, definitely get the padded shorts!

ALSO - ask the instructor to help you with your seat position. Often the pain is exacerbated by incorrect seat positioning. You should able able to look down and see the nose of your seat.
