Default Can someone help me figure this out?

Hello
I need help figuring out how many calories are in my homemade iced mocha. (haha bad I know, but I love it for a treat) plus I stink at math! lol

I use a can of condensed milk,(concentrated 14oz can) which has 130 calories for 2 tbsp. (30 mls)

I add this into 6 cups of brewed coffee. (1500 mls)

Once mixed how many calories would be in 8 oz? (250 mls)

I think since it is concentrated milk it is throwing me off.

thanks for any help

From what I looked up, 240 ml is equal to 8 oz, so I'm going to try it with that in mind.

14 oz can sweetened condensed milk = 1794 calories (14 oz = 414 ml / 30 = 13.8 x 130 calories per serving = 1794 for the whole can)

1500 ml coffee = 50 oz (no calories obviously)

14 oz milk + 50 oz coffee = 64 oz total

/ 8 oz per serving size = 8 total servings

1708 / 8 = 224.25 calories per 8oz (or 240 ml) serving

I hate to disappoint, but it's more than 214! I went by the online calories for a total can, then went back and did it with your can that has 130 calories per serving.

But don't despair, it's not bad for an iced coffee drink. I say enjoy it. Or you could try evaporated milk with an artificial sweetener added in?

If you wanted a similar taste profile, but wanted to keep the calories lower, you could use evaporated milk, and then sweeten with some alternative sweetener of your choice (Stevia, Splenda, flavored Torani sugar free syrup...the possibilities are endless). What gets you with the sweetened condensed milk is really the sugar.

You might make yourself an iced vanilla coffee, for example, using your 6 cups of coffee and 13 oz of evaporated milk, plus some sugar free vanilla Torani syrup.

13 oz can evaporated milk = 494 calories
6 cups of brewed coffee = 12 calories
2 oz sugar free Vanilla Torani Syrup, more or less to taste = 0 calories.

Suddenly, your 8 oz serving has 63.25 calories, which is more reasonable.

If you don't do artificial sweeteners, you could experiment with using the evaporated milk and sugar, agave, or other calorie sweeteners, but using less of them, to result in a drink that is less sweet overall.

Thanks Mandalinn82!
You know I was just thinking about what I could use other than this sweetened milk. I will have to try the evaporated milk and add something to it.

So even adding concentrated milk to so much water, being diluted doesn't make a difference? I thought it would. But guess not. lol

I use almond milk in my coffee drinks. Even the sweetened almond milk is lower in calories and gives a great flavor.

I use almond milk a lot, too! The unsweetened chocolate almond milk is a mere 45 calories for an entire 8 oz, and I just add stevia to taste.

Well, it does make a difference. If you drank a cup of just sweetened condensed milk, you'd be taking in 1040 calories! Instead, each cup is going to contain a little less than 2 oz total of sweetened condensed milk.
