Default Activity/calorie monitor question - any brand

I received my activity monitor today. I chose the Nike Fuel Band because it looks like something I won't mind wearing every day. I also track my calories using the Lose It app. So, my question is do I enter (subtract) the clories burned -as calculated by my band? Is a portion of the daily expended calories accounted for by the Lose It! Daily calories calculation? What portion? If you use an app or activity monitor do you adjust your activity in any way?

I've seen the Nike fuel band and it looks pretty cool... I definitely like the idea of anything that gets people moving... Looks like it could definitely be motivating...

I train with various HRM's... For me the most important things that I track are my HR zones, pace and distance... the HRM'S that I use track calories burned as well, but I try not to focus too much on those numbers and just use them as an estimate of my calories burned (I do think they are fairly accurate)

When I'm actively trying to lose weight I don't eat back my calories burned... I just track my calories in... Track the estimate of calories burned... And take the deficit that I wind up with and slowly but surely it adds up to weekly loses for me...

Thanks TripSwitch. 6 hours in and I like it, I even forgot that I had it on. My question is about manually entering my calories burned. I don't want to eat back the calories, I just don't want to double count my expended calories. In other words, if the Lose it formula assumes NAND includes 300 calories of light activity. I don't want to enter my 300 and possibly over estimate my calorie deficit. I hope this makes sense. I'm probably over thinking it.

Good to hear that you're already enjoying it... I hear ya.. about possibly over thinking it... That sounds exactly like what I tend to do... lol...

My rule of thumb is when it comes to estimating calories that I'm eating is to err on the high side... and when estimating calories burned from exercising to err on the low side....

Enjoy the fuel band... Have fun with it... And I'm sure with a little trial and error you won't be overestimating your deficit... And if you're losing weight than you'll know you're not

I try to ignore exercise calories and not eat them back, I have a number I like to stick to and make my goal for calories eaten and then exercise is just like a "bonus" on top of that, unless I feel REALLY hungry and know I've burned a couple hundred calories I can afford to put a small dent in and have a snack, I like to just not eat them back. I think a HRM or pretty accurate reader can help you determine how many calories you're burning but it doesn't help much if you eat all the calories back IMO :P
