Default Do you or have you had Gallstones?

Early this morning I had the same pain I had a while back that caused me to go to the ER and was diagnosed with gallstones expect this morning they pain was much worse and lasted longer. I was sweating so bad that I was standing in front of the ac and my clothes were still wet from sweat. Laying down made me hurt worse. It also made me throw up a bunch and have diarrhea. It lasted about an hour. I have given birth twice with pitocin induced contractions, one with an epidural and one without an epidural. I am telling you the pain from pitocin labor doesn't compare to the gallstone pain.
I am convinced that this is my "sign" to quit screwing around and get this weight off. To stop eating the wrong foods. But I am terrified of eating now. If you've had gallstones or still do, what do you eat? Last night before the gallstone attack happened, I ate a Nacho Bell Grande from Taco Bell and a supreme Chulpa. Pepsi.
So I am going to be going towards a low fat diet, just need some pointers I guess.

Sorry for the book.

I had my gallbladder removed, but the last meal I ate before getting diagnosed was a fatty hotdog with fries at a baseball game. Definitely avoid fatty food.

My husband has gallstones. He has had them for about a year and a half now. When he first got them, he was in severe pain. He had to avoid ALL greasy food (aka no Taco Bell, which he also loves!). He avoided soda and ate pretty healthy. If he didn't, he would be in severe pain. The only thing that ever prevented an attack was eating properly

However, over time this faded and he has not had an attack in a good 10 months. He is also back to eating like fast food and junk food. Its a miracle he is not overweight with the way he eats.

I have had gallstones for the last four years and suffered a few attacks, which are excrutiating but I followed some advice I researched and, unless I am jaundiced I just grit my teeth. I think I should have definitely gone to the hospital last November when I had an attack which left me passed out but it was in the middle of Nanowrimo and I felt I could not afford the time out!

It really is down to a low fat diet, and you should not have more than 5 grams of fat in any one meal. That sounds okay until you actually start looking at what you eat. You have to change your way of eating yet again but it does not mean you cannot eat tasty and satisfying meals. It does mean you have to cut out eggs, cheese, butter etc but then I am guessing with the current diet you are not eating that anyway. Frying is out and only use extra virgin olive oil if you need to use oil at all. Avoid red meats, they are usually marbled. So really chicken and turkey breasts are fine, bacon is not. Really it is common sense.

Take milkthistle capsules, one a day before your main meal. Drink a glass of apple juice with your main meal. I also take artichoke capsules which is good for your liver and often gallstones go hand in hand with fatty liver, especially if you are a bit overweight.

I've had gall stones for 7 years but I haven't had an attack in 6. Sometimes, I get burpy if I eat a fattening meal but since I went vegan, I haven't had an attack. The attacks are the worst and I though I was dying. I just generally eat a low fat diet.

I had them before I had my gallbladder removed. I think I ate yoghurt, Fritos, and a smoothie right before the last one I had. My doctor said the gallbladder attacks are brought on by foods high in both salt and fat.

For the two years after having my GB out (before I started losing weight) I ate whatever I wanted and it really messed up my digestive stuff. You just need to pay attention to what foods make you feel yucky.

But I suggest not getting your GB out. Find a health professional in your area who will help you get rid of the stones. Not having a GB is the worst when I really want to go snack on ice cream or even a bowl of cereal. There are tons of cleanses available.

I had them when I was younger and the pain was just awful, lasted for hours and I would also vomit. A lot. Long distances.

Stay away from spicy/greasy food. That's what set me off all the time anyway.

Take care of your body, it's worth it. You can do it!

I didn't know it was gallstones, but for 9 years I had attacks. I was afraid to go to the doctor about it. The pain seemed to be stressed induced sometimes as I would often have them mid to late morning having not eaten anything since the night before. MY GOODNESS it was awful. Sweating, vomiting, intense pain. I finally got the courage to go to the doctor and it turned out to be gallstones, "lots and lots of them" according to the dr. I was waiting to schedule the surgery for removal when I had a super bad attack and ended up in the ER for emergency surgery. I had eaten pasta from Pizza Hut that night. I still have to be very careful with fats of course! But I've been lucky enough to not have any foods that I simply cannot eat, moderation is key for sure.
