Thanks so much... just got back from stocking up on some provisions... AND THE STORES WERE CRAZY!!! I'm really hoping that it's not as bad as last year with Irene... But I'm ready... and since I'll be sticking with just bottled water and canned soup... I might even lose a couple of pounds...

Thanks so much! I was just going to make a thread wishing everyone safe.

I'm just outside the mandatory evacuation zones, so we're hunkering down. I'm also glad that NYC public schools closed so I didn't have to worry about getting into work tomorrow!

Stores were crazy. I went to Walgreens just to get a bag of pistachios and it was pretty nuts there! I hope everyone is prepared.

We're stocked up with everything we need. I also parked my brand new car away from trees

Stay safe everyone! I'm hoping we're all overprepared!

Thank you! I am a nervous wreck. I have had to limit my t.v. and internet exposure to all the info regarding Sandy. It seems to make me even more anxious.

Stay safe everyone and check in if you have power.

Even way up here in VT we are supposed to get high winds and some rain. I secured/put away stuff outside today; we moved our motorcycles and cars away from trees; we don't have a generator but we have our own water source, a gas stove, and lots of batteries for lanterns and flashlights.

My DH had the news on nonstop since early this morning and I had to say 'enough'! But maybe because I'm not in the direct path, nor near a coast.

BEST WISHES to all who will be affected!

I'm far enough inland to not be worried about storm surges but I also put away all my outside stuff today, since we're supposed to get heavy winds and rain. My biggest problem is going to be water in my basement and my bedroom ceiling leaking, due to my neighbor's crappy roof flooding because he's too cheap to get it fixed right.

Good luck to everyone closer to the coast!

. Steph and I are like 5 miles from each other.

I am working from home today in my fuzzy robe. I got to stay at the gym for a whole hour this morning. Hoping we don't lose power.

Sore-necked with tension and so deeply sad, since the Ramada Inn is shaking with wind. The rain seems light, like a sideways spray, which is a godsend. I have no idea what's going to happen here.

Things are getting rough here. Part of my neighbor's roof flew off and a tree is blocking one end of my block. Fingers crossed everyone! stay safe!

Thanks for the thoughts, and I send my own good thoughts to my fellow East Coasters. I'm in Northeast Massachusetts, and we're getting lots of rain- coming down in what looks like white sheets- and some pretty strong gusts of wind. The worst is still yet to come this evening. I'm hoping my trees stay put; that's my greatest worry. We've got two old large black walnuts in the back and a big ginkgo out front. Please, trees, stay where you are! We do get water in our basement every now and again, but no where near as bad as our neighbors as we're on a hill. Hoping we keep power, too, but not too optimistic at this point.

Good luck, everyone!

We are expecting the unwelcome visitor a bit later here in Eastern Ontario and know it won't be as bad by then. Thinking of all our USA East Coast chicks.

the gentleman's family resides in nyc and all the schools are closed and transportation is shut down. i hope everyone on the east coast stays safe! i've already seen some of the gentleman's friends on facebook "being rebels and going out in the storm". personally, i don't think it's something to play around with.

Wish people would be safe instead of being rebellious and going out in the storm. I've been fussing at any of my friends who do the same.

Weather isn't too bad here just yet. Wind and rain mostly. I actually have my window cracked to let in the air because it feels good!

Fortunately I still have power and cable/internet. I hope it stays. Kind of nice to have today and tomorrow off for work, even if it's for a not-so-great reason. PJs and fuzzy socks!

But I've also been doing prep work. Electronics are charged, flashlights are handy, clothes are washed, water pitchers are full, extra water on hand, non-perishable food at the ready....etc etc.

Stay safe everyone!
