Default Any hoopers here?

Anybody else here just love a hula hoop?
If not, I highly suggest getting one! They're so fun and honestly if you really get into it, they're soul centering. <3 One of my passions <3
Personally its all about the fire hoop.

I can't hula hoop to save my life, lol. I have tried and tried, just can't get it down. I could when I was younger but I think now my back just doesn't move like that anymore. Fire hoop? Tell me the hoop is on fire, spinning around your waist!

You know, a few years ago, I bought an adult sized one and was so excited when it came in the mail. I used to love to hula hoop as a kid, and I remember being so damned good at it!! I'm talking hooping on my arms, one leg at a time, even around the neck!! LOL Anyway, I order this "adult size" hula hoop because obviously the ones at Toys R Us no longer work on me, and I get it in pieces in a box. I put it together, and as I'm piecing it together, I'm becoming more aware of the WEIGHT of this thing!! And, ok, I did buy a hula hoop specifically for weight loss and the ad did say it was weighted... But good lord, it was heavier than I thought. And to make matters worse, the inner part of the hoop as all these little ridges, which they said would feel "like a massage" across my midsection.

Well.

I step in the hoop and start hooping it, and it felt like a million knuckles punching me in circles! And I had NO STAMINA. I remember doing it as a kid and going on and on and on... And this time, it was like 7 seconds and I was DONE. I still have it, taken apart and back in pieces in its box, but I thought about pulling it out and giving it another try. I know they're wonderful for working your core, so I really wanna try it again, but maybe I'll buy one that's not so heavy or maybe one that doesn't have all those little grooves.

Tubolard- Yea, theres actually six wicks that screw into my hoop. Dip them in white as, and wha la, they light up.

Lakilaulea- I've used one of those weighted hoops before, and honestly, after 30 minutes, I looked like I had gotten kicked in the ribs. My sides were bruised up! Not my liking

I have two adult hula hoops and can't keep either of them up. I can almost keep the bigger one up, but it goes at an angle while I'm hooping and then just falls flat.

hooping seems cool, but i'm more into fire staff. i bought one years ago, but i never got it lit. lack of places to go where it was safe and i wouldn't be bothered. where do you do your thing? i know there are some groups that get together..one in central park that comes to mind on facebook, but..do they actually light up in the park or no?

going to costa rica soon, and they are big on fire dancing. maybe i'll learn something and be inspired to come home and get it going.

OMG, I love hula hoops, and I hoop at least 15 min a day (except on Sunday when I decided to have a day off). At first I couldn't hoop at all, but as my cousin's wedding came close, and I was her bridesmaid so I need to have a flat belly. First few days was horrible, my ribs showed bruises and did I mention it was a 5lb ring? Anw now I love it, just a little practice and tadaa, my waist is slimmer than it used to be.
