Tonic,
I know exactly how you feel when it comes to the guilt felt from eating not on my "diet". Why do we do this to ourselves? I still haven't figured that one out.
It's so hard to allow us to have a little freedom because if we roll along for so long doing well on our diet and then a snag comes along, we feel like punishment is due.
That is a big thing for me...my old feeling is - well, I already blew it today, might as well enjoy myself...and it is so hard to stop and think about what you are about to do when your mouth is watering for chocolate (you know, like people say - just wait out your craving, think about how it will make you feel...yada yada yada)
Now, i allow myself to have a little more freedom if i eat something bad. Granted, i still have to stay within my point range (WW), but other than that, I can eat whatever i feel i need to eat - one thing i really try is to eat veggies...
truth is - if we deny for too long we end up right where we were, it's just a matter of how long it takes to get back on the wagon.
As far as your craving to eat right now, eat something that you know will give you what you need right now. chances are, you won't even be hungry for a real dinner at night. and if you are, concentrate on what you will do to get back on track tonight - not tomorrow, but tonight.
hope this helps a little
btw, the low-fat popcorn with splenda and cinnamon is really good - although i have never sprayed the butter flavored pam spray on it. i buy the 94% free butter popcorn so it is already flavored and if i put the splenda and cinnamon on it right after it comes out of the microwave it really doesn't have much of a problem adhering to the popcorn.
