Default Hi Everyone!

Hi there! New member here from VA. I just found this site today and wanted to join since I'd like to talk to like minded folks looking to lose weight and be healthy. I just started my weightloss journey a week ago and this is the first time I've been truly amped about it. I don't want to lose this motivation. I don't have much friends here since I'm new to the area, so it's hard talking to people about my goals and setbacks. So far I've lost 10lbs., and I'm hoping to lose the rest by spring. I'm tired of being obese. I was never obese growing up, I was active and thin, but started sliding in recent years due to stress, relationships, and work and now I'm here, obese and tired of being "the fat friend." I don't want to spend another summer home because I'm too embarrassed to wear shorts. I was in the military once and am looking to re-join the Reserves, which is another motivation for me. I hope to get a lot of inspiration from you guys and can't wait to share stories!

You sound like you're on the right track! I'm so glad you found this board. It has been incredibly helpful for me in so many ways: support, inspiration, motivation, information and sometimes, a bit of tough love.

I hope to see you around!

Lakilaulea: Wow, I am certainly tired of being "the fat friend" too. The fat single friend. You seem so pumped about losing weight, I'm excited to go on this journey with you. Good luck!

Thanks, Ryan! Yep, I'm with you on the single fat friend thing. Being one of the last to get married and the only one not in a relationship kinda bums me out, but I know I'm the only one to blame. Because I'm so self conscious of this weight, I don't like going out. I don't like dressing up, I don't like meeting people... And I wasn't always this way. I used to love dresses and make up and socializing. I wanna get back to my old self. I've tried every diet under the sun, and none of them have worked. I'm realizing the best thing for me to do is just get off my rear and make it happen, miracle pills be damned!! I look forward to reading about your triumphs and helping you through any setbacks

Everything you've just said could easily have come out of my mouth. Being overweight has created a sense of anxiety which often stops me from going out, socializing, and meeting new people. I agree, it's our own fault, and I'm ready to accept responsibility and move forward. I can't wait to look and feel healthy!
