Wink SAHM trying to lose weight

Hi! I am Dawn, I'm 39 and am a stay at home mom of two boys ages 3 & 6. I also have two older boys that have graduated and are in college, they are 18 & 19.

I have pretty much been considered overweight my whole life, but in my late twenties, I became obese or as I like to say "comfortably lazy".

It wasn't until 2010, a year after my son was born that I really wanted to lose weight. I got up to 235. I always "wanted" to lose weight, but never did anything about it. I was so sick of seeing the scale creep up. I went vegetarian in 2010 hoping to lose weight but instead gained weight! Even with exercise it just didn't work. I was 208 lbs in 2010 at my lowest. This last month I was 221. Today I am 211, every little bit helps make every day easier!

Well I am not giving up this time. This is my startover and I am so glad to have found 3FC website. I am eating meat again, and just keeping away from grains, sugar, gluten and high carb foods. I exercise using an elliptical (because I have little ones it's not easy to get to the gym so I use what I have). So far so good, I lost 10 lbs. I want so bad to be in the 100's instead of over 200 lbs!! I can't wait to show off my goal pics someday!! With support I know it can be done!

Hi Dawn!

! You and I have so much in common! I'm also a SAHM. I am 41 years old and I have two boys.

I hope you will look at your past experiences as good ones because they brought you here to a point where you're more experienced and know what might work and what might not.

I think it's really important to pick a plan that you can stick to for the rest of your life. I personally like calorie counting because after you've done it for a while, it's second nature. Sure it's not that much fun, but neither is being uncomfortable in your own body.

I'm sure you'll love it here as much as I do and I can't wait to hear all about your progress!

Luckymommy you have lost so much weight! Congrats! I would love to hear what you did.

Thank you Fatness! I am excited to finally get some support. My husband is a great support, but right now he is the only one helping me.

If you have your hubby helping you, then that's wonderful!

I have struggled with my weight since my first year of college. I have lost and gained the same 50-80 lbs a lot more times than I can remember.

What works for me:

1) Visiting this board every day multiple times
2) working out in the morning
3) eating almost the same thing every day
4) if I fall off track, getting back on asap and not feeing hopeless
5) getting enough sleep (not always possible)
6) being nice to myself rather than disgusted by myself
7) making an effort to look nice even if I"m not at goal weight
8) starting the day with protein
9) leaving more calories for the end of the day as opposed to the beginning of the day (I only have string cheese or a hard boiled egg for breakfast)
10) moving as much as possible....aside from the workout

If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to Private Message me because I might not check back here again as I"m super forgetful.

Luckymommy I think I am too new still to PM lol.

Looking at your list made me think, I am pretty much doing all of them except making an effort to look nice...lol. OMG since I had my 3 year old I haven't had an interest in getting "dressed up" for anything! I need to get out of that rut. I remember there was a time I wouldn't even go check the mail unless I was all dolled up, my how I have changed. I am definately putting that one on my to do list!

Also, being a stay at home mom, to me, makes me lazy. I do my minimum of 60 minutes on my elliptical, everyday, then if I "feel" like doing more I will walk on my treadmill for however long, but I never really do anything else. Your basic chasing the kids, cleaning house, cooking 2-3 different meals at one time, yada yada yada. But Even my loving husband kindly told me how maybe I need to be more active. I think it's hard because leaving the house with my rotten 3 year old (I say that with a huge smile), is a chore! He is a wild one. He loves to run! And by the time my husband gets home, it's already late and then I have no interest in doing anything but sit on my butt and relax.

But I am going to be positive and definately make more time for movement.
