Default Work out at Bosses house or at School?

I don't mind doing Cardio at my school gym, but I HATE the weight room. I want to start lifting weights, but they are located in this small room that is FULL of college boys and it makes it very very very uncomfortable being the only girl there. Plus, they give you these looks like you are invading their man-space.

I also work part-time for an older gentlemen and his wife . I work at their house 2-3 days a week and they are awesome people. They have their own gym in their house which includes an entire weight rack and pretty much everything you would find at a regular gym. A TRX thing, bosu balls, an entire weight rack. I even have a key and the alarm code to his house since they trust me enough and he travels alot and I still need access to his house to work (I do admin work and this is how good of a relationship we have plus I house sit for them all the time).

When talking about random stuff, I mentioned my hate for the weight room at school and he laughed and told me just to use the gym at their house since I am there 3 times a week and it has everything I would need. Should I take him up on his offer or do you think it would be weird? The workout room is completely separate and has a door so its not like anyone would see me. While our relationship is professional, he is a great boss. When I told him I was going to go visit my BFF out of town, he gave me an extra $50 for "drinking money". He takes me to Starbucks almost EVERY SINGLE shift, I've driven him to the airport lots and he's given me rides when my car wasn't working.

I don't really see why you shouldn't. I'd feel more weird hanging around strange guys than mostly alone at my boss's place. And you guys are on fairly good terms right? Why do you think it would be weird to work out there? Is there something else that prevents you from working out at his house? I think it sounds like an awesome opportunity! Go for it!

Your boss sounds great! If he offered, I would go for it.

Do it! It sounds like a great offer!

Hopefully after working out by yourself for a while, you'll get the confidence to use your college's weight room. (Your tuition is helping to pay for that weight room--you are entitled to use it. And you'll find that if you ignore them and do your thing with confidence, they'll get over it.)

Partially on-topic: I used to think the guys in my university gym were giving me the stink-eye for invading their territory. I have decided since then that it is mostly just the curiosity of having a female venture in there-- it's rare-- and frankly, the occasional admiring glance.

If you do decide to brave the uni gym, I keep my earbuds in and avoid eye contact with the guys. This makes it clear that I'm there to work and not to chat. I faked confidence in there for long enough that I'm now genuinely confident. I've never had anyone be rude to me.

Yeah, my plan is to face the uni weight room once I actually learn what I am doing and build up the confidence. I'm someone who prefers to be alone when I am learning something new, so being around a bunch of college boys, some of which like to act like gods gift, does not sound fun until I feel like I actually have a great idea of what I'm doing. One day I will get there.

I think I shall take my boss up on his offer since its essentially very private in there, has everything I need and I am already there multiple times a week!

I get looks from the guys too, but I ignore 'em I totally understand you though; it's hard to do that when you're just starting out.

Take the offer!! Your boss sounds awesome and it's great to be able to workout on your own.
