Default Nuvaring users in the house?

I've been on this sucker for almost 6 months now, apart from some *ahem* dryness and a slight decrease in libido, it's great!

....except for the 48 hours or so AFTER I take it out: I always gain like 5lbs overnight and become an eating MACHINE. Seriously, I'm considering a padlock on the kitchen door.

Wondering if anyone else on any kind of BC has similar experiences?

I gained weight on it. I'm not a fan of it at all, to be honest. I had some other complications, a pregnancy and miscarriage being one of them.

I have the Mirena IUD and I like it much more. It depends on the individual though. Some women really have problems with it, some don't.

Omg I hated that thing I used to call it the shower curtain ring.. I tried it for a few months and then ditched it. Regardless, hormonal BC has never made me gain weight. I'm too old for hormonal BC now so I have Paraguard IUD.

I think most women tear through the cabinets a few days before TOM, that's pretty normal, you just have to exhibit self-control. Easier said than done I know.

Nuva Ring made me wake up screaming with leg cramps (blood clots?) and caused a lot of vaginal irritation.

The Mirena IUD was the most painful thing I've ever experienced, bar none. I wouldn't wish that pain on my worst enemy (never had kids before, that may be part of it?)

I'm on the mini-pill now. It's great.

Katbot - Unless you want to have a period, you could just put the new ring in immediately after you take the old one out. Maybe that will help?

What is nuvaring? What is BC? Sorry for being such an ignorant. I just have no idea what those things are and I want to learn.

I'm surprised they gave you an IUD, usually they want you to have at least one baby first. I found it crampy at most but nothing tragic. I'd imagine it would be more painful for someone that's never had their cervix cranked open before. Good times.

Virgiea, Nuvaring is a form of birth control.

novangel - I was on vicodin and ibuprofen for two weeks afterwards. When I checked in for the procedure, they gave me a basin to vomit in during the insertion, and I definitely used it. It was awful!

Holy crap, Grad. I had a little light-headedness when they put mine in, and I cramped a few days, but after that I was fine. I've had 2 kids though. Maybe that does have something to do with it.

I've only been on Nuvaring for 3 weeks and so far so good! I haven't noticed any drastic changes except for a serious loss in libido. My poor honey, I used to be all over him and now I just don't really care whether we "get it on" or not! I figured I'll give it some time before signing it off completely.

I used Nuvaring for a few years. It was all good in the beginning, then i switched to running the one after another w/out a break. I became someone I didn't know. Dryness, pain even when lubrication was used, didn't have the energy to do anything. Once I went off it took a year to have a normal period again. I have a feeling that has something to do with PCOS.
