Default Just exhausted after workout is this normal?

I did my first weight training yeasterday. I had a good lunch and then felt so tired I ended up napping on couch for half an hour. Today I just did cardio. Treadmill for an hour (longer than usual) 3miles walked. I have been walking for 3wks steadily increasing speed and time. I had another good lunch after my cardio. Again I was Soo tired I napped again.

I think I may need to up my calories for the day. Do you think that might be the problem. I have been trying to eat 1200/day. A few weeks ago it was only 1000 because I just started and was not really hungry. I am going to start eating 1500/day and see if that helps.

it might be that this new exercise is toning and building muscles that you do not work on as often. Considering that this is your first session it should go away soon.
What I do want to note is that it is good to have variation and to take breaks while weight training.

As your body is building muscle it has to tear muscle down, rebuild, repair tears, and reshape itself. This process takes a lot of energy. Our bodies repair themselves best when asleep. The tiredness should go away after a while but be sure you are getting adequate sleep at night and good lean protein. I also think its good that you are upping your calories. Good luck and get trucking along!

I think you're probably right; it sounds like a calorie issue. See how the increase feels and go from there. But don't stop exercising!

Thanks ladies. No I will not stop exercising. This is just the first week I have felt so tired after a workout. So upping my calories should not hurt anything especially as I am upping my exercise. I will either do my next weight training Saturday or Monday's. Hopefully with more protein in my diet and more calories I will feel better next time.
