Question Fitbit question

Hi all! I am considering purchasing a fitbit. I have a Polar heart rate monitor (love it!) that I use during workouts, but I thought having something throughout the rest of the day my help as well.

Would it be beneficial to have both, or unnecessary?

Is there another device that may be similar or better than the fitbit?

Any negatives you have found with the fitbit?

I would appreciate any information I can get! Thanks so much!!

I love my Fitbit. I love wearing it, and seeing that I'll have X steps and saying 'self, walk 1000 more steps before you...' and then I'll do it, and burn more. I like having it as a motivational tool.

I used to have a BodyBugg and I liked it, and the Fitbit records a similar burn, but the BB was $7 a month to look at my progress online, while the Fitbit is free. I'm liking free much more, lol.

I can't think of any negatives. I had a software issue with my first one, and I emailed customer service and they emailed me back on a holiday weekend the same day, and my issue was resolved (they sent me a new one) no charge, and with very little effort on my part. I have nothing but praises for them.

The website is easy to use and the app is too.

Awesome! I haven't heard many negatives about it other than it being so small it is easy to put it in the washing machine if not careful. Free is also my favorite price (for the software)!!

Does anyone use both a fitbit and a HRM?

I really enjoy my Fitbit. I clip it to my bra. I've never put mine through the wash, though. I think I'm so focused on keeping my stats current, it's never very far from my mind. I use the Fitbit site to track my meals/calories free. It totally keeps me on track for my calorie burn.

The Fitbit site allows users to customize the Plan Summary to target a calorie deficit to lose up to two pounds per week. There are features that users can subscribe to for a fee--such as the trainer program, etc.

I certainly recommend the device with no qualms.
