This morning I woke up, got ready, got my puppy ready and took off on a long walk. About 20 minutes in, I realized that I didn't eat anything before I left. Is this going to hurt me in the long run? I am SO bad at eating breakfast, so when I left i didn't even think about it.
I don't think it hurts. I think it's mostly a matter of preference and listening to your body. If I swim in the morning, I have something light- but if I don't eat anything, I have no energy. If I do any other cardio, it makes me nauseous to not eat beforehand. Some people are the opposite, but I'm just one of those people who wakes up ravenous!
I know that some argue the effectiveness of exercising on an empty stomach vs. after eating, but I can't imagine it makes THAT much of a difference in the longrun. As long as you're happy with what you're doing and have energy to do it, I think it's fine... why fix what isn't broken?
I never eat before exercising in the morning. And my evening workouts are usually before dinner. I occasionally get a wee bit of queasiness, but not often. I think it comes down to personal preference.
I have a granola bar or a banana or something else small unless it is a longer ride or run. Then I will take something else with me to eat later. I don't like eating in the morning, but I need something in my stomach.
i work out at 6 a.m. and i just get up at 5:30-5:40, pack my stuff, take my multivitamin and sometimes if needed clean up the mess the puppy made pooping on the floor overnight (*sigh*)....i TRY to have a bite of peanut butter before i hit the gym...sometimes i forget but i try to....i find that it doesnt matter either way if i eat or not, but mentally i like to know i had a bite of something...ive tried toast and bananas also but they sit oddly in my stomach and i dont like it
I always eat before my morning run. I do much better on a (relatively) full stomach than on an empty one, plus I love breakfast! That said, people seem to vary a lot in this regard.
I don't eat before my morning workouts - I'm just not hungry when I first get up. If it's an afternoon workout I do try and have a piece of fruit or some yoghurt 1-2 hours before I'm due at the gym.
It depends on what exercise I am doing. If it's cardio, then I generally don't eat; but when I do weights I have a protein shake. I found that without it, I get really light-headed and sick to my stomach.
I don't. I've read that working out on an empty stomach makes you burn cals from your fat stores... if you eat within an hour or two of working out, you burn cals recently received from the food. Or something to that effect.. too early for my brain to make sense. lol
this morning at 5:45 a.m. i had two bites of peanut butter...then i did weight machines and running...i just had a protein shake now at 7:45 a.m.....that's usually my routine and works well for me but everyone is different
