UGH! Hate the fat haters! SkinnyGossip.com vs. Kate Upton
Yup, I know that it's not helping things to spread more hatred around, but what is up with pro-anorexia sites!? I shouldn't have looked, but I read this story about how supermodel Kate Upton was called a "piggie" by a pro-anorexia site, and it made me ill. Actually, what made me ill was the link that I followed to check out the origin of those maligning comments. Don't check out skinnygossip.com, if you want to maintain your calm afternoon.
At least Kate Upton loves her body and couldn't care less about those silly fools.
Rant over.
i just saw that on yahoo news and was like are you serious?!?! that girl is a bit skinny to me i cant IMAGINE her being 'piggie' brings to mind all my skinny friends who call themselves and each other fat..... REALLY!!?? then how must i look to you?
I hate those sites that perpetuate an unattainable body image. Grrrr, don't get me started! I have nieces that think they are fat and they are beautiful young girls and it's because of sites like that and te fashion industry. I wish hackers would take down sites like that
I stumbled on that site a week ago. I guess the blogger is entitled to her opinion. I do think it's a weird thing to put your time and energy into criticizing famous people's bodies who are making money off of their bodies! Silly really.
There will always be people out there who think *your* (general you, not specific you) body isn't nice; too fat, too thin, disproportion, whatever. Who cares! She'd probably call me a walrus if Kate Upton is a piggie. But what kind of person goes around writing blogs calling people names!? Not a good one.

I agree with you. My opinion is that I don't like their opinion.
I'm certainly not worried about there not being enough people around to appreciate my body in its current state of puffiness and/or future state of leanness. I don't need everyone to like me!
I just think of my little nieces. There's so much pressure that comes at them in more subtle forms to be thin, that when I see an overtly anti-natural body types website, it reminds me of that pressure. I just want girls and women to feel comfortable being themselves!
If I had seen this a year ago, I would be fuming right now. But my current reaction is something along the lines of "those poor girls." We, as a society, tend to be sensitive to people with mental health disorders (we wouldn't get angry at someone who thought we were aliens, right?) and tend to forget that these girls have something very serious disturbing their thought patterns. How horrible it must be to be so afraid of the slightest bit of fat that you feel pain everyday, all day. No wonder they take it out on us.
That being said, there's few intolerance allowed in our culture anymore, and I hope I live to the point where bias against the obese is no longer a problem.
That site has issues. I'm not a supporter of HAES or the fat acceptance movement, but their forums are full of depressed, angry, self-righteous women and it is really tragic. The mindset there, for the most part, is very unhealthy. The Kate Upton this isn't surprising, but it also isn't the deeper issue.
It isn't a pro-Ana site, but neither does that mean it is a healthy, sensible, or beneficial place for people to gather. I pity those women their neuroses, as much as they pity me my fat.
Wow. I wish I had her measurements. That must make me a whale.
Mustang- don't let this make you feel bad. Some people have very distorted views of reality; for some people, you not washing your hands seven times in a row every time you touch a doorknob might seem absolutely disgusting!
Also, don't negate what you've accomplishing by letting it be about them. It's about you!

I can see where people would easily jump to that conclusion (that it's a pro-ana site) from a site that used to have a section titled "Starving Tips of the Day"
Agree with your last statement Arctic Mama. I feel bad that they're so unhappy that they feel the need to spread so much hate.
