Hi Jordan,

First of all, congrats on the 20 lbs you have lost! Every pound counts. I can say from personal experience that the slower it comes off, the more likely you are to keep it off. I lost over 157 pounds and it tool me 4 years or so. It was frustrating at the time to only lost .2 or .5 per week, but in the long run, my body got used to being at a lower weight and I was less likely to rebound.

But to answer your question specifically around how to do it faster, my one piece of advice would be PROTEIN. Eat more protein, less carbs and try to get your carbs from healthy sources like veggies and fruit.

Keep your head up and keep moving forward and eventually you'll get there. Just never give up!

Heather

Hi Jordan! Without more specifics, it's really hard to tell what's going on and how you can speed it up. There are lots of plans, most of which seem to work pretty well for certain people in certain situations, but they all definitely seem to have both strengths and weaknesses. Are you following a specific plan? If so, which one? Are you comfortable with it, or do you find yourself "cheating?" Are you exercising? Are your clothes fitting differently? (Sometimes, clothing is a much more accurate indicator of progress than the number on the scale.) Answers to these questions would probably get you answers that are specific to your needs.

Also - are you enjoying what you're doing? So much so that you can imagine doing it for the rest of your life?

I struggle A LOT with the patience thing. Good for you to keep going for six months! What an amazing accomplishment in itself to reach that milestone.

Impossible to answer without specifics. My best guess would be that you calorie deficit isn't enough to let you lost faster than what you are losing already.

I think your loss is fantastic! It averages out to about 4 pounds a month, and that's really not bad. I know that when you feel like it's going to slow, it's just not going to help to have people tell you your loss is great, though. And when you want to get there now, you want to get there now. 20 pounds in 6 months is really something to be proud of!

I'm a super slow loser, like a pound a month, so I'm jealous of your progress!

Be patient, you're going to get there. Don't give up! I think it's great that you and your friend are working together, and you have a weight loss buddy. If you are both on the same page, and can support each other, you're doing great.
