I am sure that everyone has a different way or reason for picking the weight they want to be so please share how you got that number. For me personally I think I have looked my best at 142, (twas a long time ago though, like high school) and it was an even 150 pounds to be lost from my starting weight, plus I think it would be great to say some day that I have lost MORE than half my size!!!
Even if it's a little heavy for my height, I still think I looked my best at around 160 lbs (five years ago, at age 13). Once I hit that goal I may decide to lose an additional 20 lbs to get to where I should be ideally, but when I see pictures of myself at 160, I would be very satisfied with that
I want to be a size 8. I have no idea what weight that is at my height (5'10") but I am currently a size 14, and am going to start with a goal of 160, which is a BMI of 23.
I look awesome anywhere between 160-170, I know it isn't in the healthy range at that weight but I am healthy at that weight. I was very active, at that weight. I was on the softball and cheerleading teams.

Weight, as a NUMBER, can be so tricky to pinpoint! Your post struck me, b.c I am a 23 BMI and I fit into size 2/4 pants. You might be surprised when you get there!
I picked 135 because back in 2005/06 when I lost weight (from 193 to 143) my goal weight was 135. I was SOOOO close. I know it's just a number, and right now it's a far away one, but that's why I picked it.
My healthy goal is to get under 155, the rest are "vanity" pounds. I was around 150 for many years and was pretty happy at that weight, but always wanted to "lose a few".

Same here. BMI of 23.8 and size 2s are starting to get loose. Vanity sizing at its finest. No way I would have been a size 2 at this BMI twenty years ago...
I started my journey with 135 in mind because it felt mildly attainable at the time. I was afraid to set a goal that was so low it would feel too overwhelming to achieve. One I got to 135 I realized I had plenty more to go, so I reset my next goal to 125. Got there and realized I STILL had plenty more to go, so reset to 115. I seriously don't know where I'll end up at this point but I'm really close to hitting the 100 pounds lost mark and that is just incredible (yet surreal) to me.
I think it's different when you're tall... and really depends on your frame. When I had just had a growth spurt and was at my very thinnest (to the extent that other people were asking me if I had an eating disorder) I was a size 6.
I picked my goal weight based on how I felt at that weight at the time even though it is still in the overweight range. I may change my mind once I get there to go lower or stay at the same weight and lower my bodyfat/gain muscle instead.
I picked 155 because I haven't been there since I was about 12, and it's slightly smaller than the the best I've ever felt (160). It's in a healthy BMI range, and it's just the right level fo healthy for my height (5'11") and broad build.
I picked 145 because it seems attainable and is within a healthy range for my height. I really have no concept of how I'll look at the weight, so it may change as I get closer to my goal. I could be completely happy with myself at 160, or I may want to keep losing until I'm closer to 130. But for now, 145 is what I have in mind
I chose my goal weight based on my lowest weight as an adult. Many people keep saying my goal weight is too low but don't seem to realize I was that weight as a teenager (16-19) and that after gaining weight I was briefly 120lbs when I was 23 (it was for a few months before exams stress and disordered eating reared its ugly head again).
My goal weight is not set in stone either. If I get to 130 or 135 and think I look fantastic then I will stop losing weight. Heck if I am 140 and healthy with nice muscle tone I will be happy. I really want to get anywhere between 140 and 120 since I feel that is my healthiest weight range any number in between where I feel happy with how I look and feel I will be satisfied.
Chose mine because 128 has been my lowest recent weight (3 yrs ago) I was easily able to maintain around 132 but felt like I would have liked to be a little bit smaller. Thinking back though the size wasn't the problem because it was good ( size 2-4) but I was not toned enough. This go round I have added more exercise including some strength training. Hopefully that helps!
