Default Woke up and am completely uninterested in food

So I woke up this morning feeling full. I had no interest in making oatmeal. I decided maybe I needed a change and decided to buy a pita wrap at the university. I got here...completely not interested. In fact, I have that "do not want!" feeling.

Last night the fiance made steak and garlic toast. I made about a cup of steamed broccoli and carrot mix to go with it for each of us.
The steak was huge, 10 oz, so I only ate half and cut up the other half for a steak sandwich later on. At the end of supper I was full for a long time. Normally I get peckish around 11-12pm but not that night. And, as previously mentioned, I woke up feeling full today.

I'm concerned about my metabolism. Should I eat -something- (maybe that pita wrap? or a plain toasted bagel?) to keep it running, or do I go with my body's instinct and just not eat?

(I'm calorie counting - 1500 calories a day)

I wouldn't. If you don't want to eat, don't eat! Just make sure this doesn't cause you to overeat later.

Have you looked into intermittent fasting? There's a thread on here about it.

Your metabolism doesn't slow down because you missed a meal. It takes over 50 hours of fasting for your body to start slowing down the metabolism due to a lack of food. Also restricting calories slows down your metabolism regardless of how many meals one consumes.

Short answer: don't worry about it. Your hunger will return.

I wouldn't force myself to eat if I wasn't hungry. Probably your appetite will return before you know it!

If you want to get into the habit of only eating when you're hungry, only eat when you're hungry.

I'd just like to add that this has happened to me before and I miss those days now!

I'm with the others here. If you don't feel like eating for that one meal, then don't eat (but just make sure that it doesn't lead to overeating later on, that is—if you feel hungry at lunch, then eat lunch, don't try to push it to see 'how long can I hold without eating' etc.). If it happens from time to time only, it's not a problem. You'd only have to worry if it were to happen very often.

I think I'm not mistaken in saying that a lot of us here gained weight because we had become unable to tell whether we were hungry or not—eating out of habit, eating the same quantity as other people our of habit, etc. So when our bodies send up signals, I think we have to listen to them, and learn to recognize what they mean.
