All is well here, I'm getting more and more energy and I really enjoy that. I have a question this morning.
I know there are several thread regarding vacation while on IP. I've read a lot ot things but couldn't find anything on backpacking while on IP...
I'm wondering, anyone has been backpacking while on IP?? I'm leaving for 2 weeks in Costa Rica and I'm trying to figure out what to bring. I'll probably do a phase 3 over there (phasing off before) and would mostly bring some snacks. I thought of bars but then remembered that I have no fridge...in the warm, humid climate of the country, so chocolate covered snack might not be a good idea. Then I thought soy chips or concentrated juice (Alternatives).
Anyways, I'll work something out but if you have any ideas or suggestions, let me know ;-) They are more than welcome ;-)
Good morning! I am starting to freak out a little as we leave for Rome on the 20th for 6 nights. It is a once in the lifetime trip for me as I have never been to Italy and it is a rewards trip that my husband won at work so there will be of wining and dining every night including a black tie dinner. My coach said I do not have to phase off just to be careful there even thought told her I wil not be taking my packets....maybe one packet a day. I am really nervous as I have about 20 left to lose...hopefully 15 at that point and I do not want to sabatoge myself. Plus this is the first time leaving my 3 year old which makes me nervous as she has a rare syndrome and has some significant developmental delays....luckily my sister volunteered to take vacation from work and fly here to watch my 3 kids!!
Then to top it off we go to Ireland at the end of July....been there lots of times though as my parents have a house there but first time back in 3 years.
Back from 2.5 week Vcation - France & Italy - Phasing off
Hi all,
I'm back from 2.5 weeks on vacation. Spent a week in both Paris and Provence and then boarded a cruise ship for a "fine wine and food cruise of the French & Italian Rivieras" for a week.
Weighed myself this morning - result was up 3.2 pounds in 3 weeks exactly. Amazing! I love what this program does to our bodies. I am in my 50's, menopausal, take thyroid meds so believe I would typically have gained a lot more.
I phased off in a plan Wuv recommended for me, and the plan was 2 weeks of phase 2 and 2 weeks of phase 3 (I use alternatives, don't have a coach). While on this 4 week phase off, I still lost around 5 pounds.
While away, I tried to live a phase 3 life but I ended up having carbs (great breads in Paris, fabulous meals in France) and wine. Alcohol is so bad for your metabolism - and I was doing 2 wine tastings/day plus wine with dinner every night in Italy. I did have bars and puddings with me and did use the bars as snacks. I walked a lot, ate 3 meals/day, had few snacks
other than IP bars. I did favor protein over sugar and starches but still had butter on my bread as well as cheese cubes with crackers at the wine tastings - so combined fat with starch with wine - a big "no no" on IP. I had creme brulee and chocolate mousse for dessert and also had "oatmeal raspberry creme brulee" for breakfast. Lots of croissants, foie gras, etc. Too much wine for sure. But I wanted to try things and this was a very special trip - our 10th wedding anniversary.
My thoughts: It seems that my pancreas is functioning well - which is what IP is all about. Think the key was phasing off. Plus as I tend to be constipated (in general - prior to IP as well), I did have my fiber pills with me and that helped I'm sure. (Take Yerba Prima fiber pills - I buy online.)
I am back on phase 1, committed to losing all the weight. While only gaining 3.2 pounds, have to say I feel like I gained more than that - feeling a little pudgy. But did get on the scale 4 times and also had my husband check the number since I expected (feared) a big gain. So the numbers I have here are accurate.
Regarding vacations, my position is to absolutely phase off gently (2 weeks phase 2 and 2 weeks phase 3). Favor protein over sugar and starches but enjoy your vacation and get right back on IP when you return.
Morning all,
Had some minor oral surgery yesterday, so working from home. Having icy shakes for my meals today to help with swelling. I believe I will skip salads, or throw some spinach in the blender as many do. Guess I should try it. I will cook up some rhubarb, sweeten it with splenda or stevia for some of my veggies.
I should be back to normal by tomorrow! Have a good day OP all!

I want your itinerary because I SO want to do a trip like this!!! Can you PM me who you went through?
GOODMORNING EVERYONE!!! Well, today is WI2 and I'm hoping to see some great progress!! I feel lighter, and I'm doing very well on the plan!! I know that we have a new product out there: Lemon Iced Tea. If anyone is brave enough to try it, let me know your results!
Good morning Ipeeps - Chloe it sounds like a fabulous trip and I am so proud of you for the way you have handled yourself diet wise! I think we are all searching for balance and it looks like you did it!
I am still trying to recover from company and graduation! But I managed to stay OP through all of that and had a great weigh in yesterday! I love this diet!

Okay I just started singing "Foxy Lady" in my mind when I say your post. Good tune.
You are Rocking this keep us posted. Tomorrow is my WI, I need to count I think it is # 11.
Off to a field trip with my son and his 4th grade class today. Going to the Shelburne museum. NSV for me, I would have shyed away from a walking trip like this before IP. Not now. Looking forward to it!
Good morning everyone. Pretty day here. I have WI#4 tonight - I hope things have moved. Been staying OP, but I don't feel like much as changed. We will see, I guess.
Feel a little tired and discouraged today - it will pass though.
Chloe - Thank you for the details! Sounds like you had a fabulous trip! I went to Greece and Italy last April and learned to loooove red wine there!
I'm so impressed with your result, being much in the same boat as you, that there is hope that the weight won't 'bounce' right back when I phase off.
For me, I weigh in today and transition to P4!
I'm pretty sure I've lost more during P3 - according to my home scale - but I refuse to post it on my ticker until it's confirmed by my coach's scale.
I'm not really looking forward to the visit there today tho - it's an hour drive away and over the last few weeks IP has began to get really popular in my area. I feel like they are in such a hurry for me to get on the scale, buy my stuff, and get out -- so they can move on to the next customer and get the $$. (I'm thinking shampoo, rinse, repeat)
I feel like if I have questions, I'm taking up too much of my coach's time ... and I really do have some questions about how to properly combine foods during maintenance. The handouts are not really clear to me. Maybe I'm just a slow learner in this venue, but I really don't want to mess up and gain it all back.
Anyway... please wish me luck.

I hate that feeling - I think you should take your time with your coach - you are spending the same $$ and are just as important as anyone else there - so ask your questions and get things clarified - you deserve it!
