Default Over this...

Hi everyone! I am new to this so please be patient =) I am a 25, soon to be 26yo female. I have been heavy pretty much since I was 9. I am so tired of living like this. Not being able to shop or feel comfortable in clothes unless they are "work-out" clothes, which in all honesty, the most exercise I get in them is walking from point A to point B. I have a gym membership, just hardly ever find myself there. When I do go, I feel great, I am just lazy, point blank. I have an amazing (in shape) husband and feel so down by my appearance but yet do nothing to change. I reached my point today where I want to live my life. As of now, I am still healthy but know being 5'4 and 220 lbs now that this isnt going to last long if I dont change something. Please help!!!! I need some guidance. I dont even know where to start let alone how to reach my goal!

Thanks!

Hello and welcome!

You'll find 3FC is full of inspiring, helpful people and lots of support and advice to help you on your weight loss journey.

You have a gym membership? Then make your first healthy resulution this week, to use that gym membership! Doesyour gym have any fitness instructors? They're usually included in the price of the gym membership (unlike personal traners, who work out with you and cost an hourly rate). A fitness instructor can make an exercise plan for you to follow and will periodically check your progress. It's fun to work at it and try to impress the.

If not, you can still get motivated at the gym by attending classes, like circuits, spinning, yoga, boxercise, etc. Working out under supervision and guidance often benefits better than trying to stick it alone.

But the most important thing when trying to lose weight is changing what you eat. Cut the junk food, soft drinks, refined sugar and refined carbs, eat plenty of wholemeal grains, vegetables, good protein and good fats (such as nuts) and try to get in 1.5 litres a day of water. This is what I'm doing currently and it's working like a charm, and eating every 4 hours keeps your metabolism going like a well oiled machine. I limit my calories to 1200 a day, but I'm 5'2. If you're taller you'll need to increase that accordingly. My last tip - never eat after 8pm. You're not burning many calories at that point in the evening and you won't burn it off.

Those are my tips - eat right and often, drink lots of water, keep up the exercise and stay strong!
