Default Whatcha Readin' June 2012

What, nobody's started a Whatcha Readin' thread for the month yet??

The President's Vampire by Christopher Farnsworth (he has another book in the series, Red, White and Blood, I'll put that on my list for around Halloween and since the election is part of the story that'll be 2 birds with one stone). Once this is out of the way I start my Olympic reading

I'm reading a bunch of literary theory because I'm working on an article. I'm also reading a bunch of stuff about robots because I'm working on a writing project which involves an aspect of robotics.

For fun, however, I'm reading "The Dark Volume" by Gordon Dahlquist, sequel to "The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters". I am enjoying it, but I don't like it as much as the previous book; even if more people prefer this one's faster-paced plot and action sequences and mystery elements, I preferred the previous volume's slow, deliberately steeped characters and intrigue. Steampunk and sex and manners and mystery, sorta sci-fi but not all tech-y. I recommend the two to anyone who likes any of that kind of thing.

Finally finished the last book...trying to get back in a reading mood and started 1st to Die by James Patterson. Funny thing as I was reading it sounded so familiar. I remembered it was a Lifetime movie that i saw a while back, lol. Oh well, still going to read it, maybe it will be a little better than the movie.

Happy Reading!

I'm usually on top of that! Been a rough couple of personal days for me, and it totally slipped my mind. Thank you for starting June's ANOther.

Just finished The Lifeboat which was okay, but I wanted it to be amazing and Below Stairs which totally has me craving the next season of Downton Abbey.

I just finished Blood Test, an older book by Jonathan Kellerman. Now I'm reading Midnight in Peking. It actually has a longer title--based on a true unsolved mystery. I thought it'd be interesting, like The Devil in the White City, and while it is interesting, I'm not fascinated by the writing. I've even run into a couple incomplete sentences. Weird.
