Default New Here Old to Dieting Starting New Lifestyle!!!

Hi all,

I am a 36 year old single mom who is determine to lose the weight I have collected. Yes, collected. I feel as if I am a fat hoarder!!! LOL.

How do you all feel about strength training? Must I really lift weights?

I have started WW (again) and I have lost about 5 lbs over the last 3 weeks. I am walking 2 miles a day (at least) and was wondering do I need to start strength training now or wait until more weight is loss.

Any and all feedback needed.

Welcome to 3FC!

Many here are advocates of strength training, although it's something I have yet to do this time around.

There is a Weight and Resistance Training thread you might want to check out.

Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome. I will check out the thread as I dont really like weights (got this fear that I will drop one on my foot or something). I do like the resistance bands - do they work the same way?

treetop1913,

Resistance bands are a cool tool and I'm sure you'll find some here who can attest to the effectiveness. It isn't necessary to lift weights or strength train to lose weight but these things do help with toning and overall fitness.
