Default Needing to go clothes shopping..but I'm worried?

So, I can kiss some of my "fat clothes" good bye. My 18's no longer fit and my 20's are falling down my butt. I'm aware that I need new clothes. The only problem is, I don't WANT to buy them right now because if I keep losing weight I'm gonna have to just continue to buy them. I'm not gonna wait until I'm at my goal because well, that would be stupid. So I'm thinking when I'm a size 14 I'll invest in some more clothes. I HATE shopping in "fat" stores /: I mean, I'm 17. I do like to look trendy now and then..I do enjoy shopping...but it's depressing..

hey why not go to a thrift or consignment store and buy a couple of items for cheap, that are replacable?

also, once you hit the 14 there's going to be plenty of cheap, trendy stores that you can buy disposable clothes at!

once you buy fitting clothes, THAT is when people will notice!! congrats 40 lbs is a big deal!!!!

I second this! I've gotten some great pieces at thrift stores, and the price is certainly right for someone whose success means they'll have to keep buying clothes

Have you looked at Old Navy? Old Navy has cute trendy clothes for cheap. Get some pants with a drawstring so you can pull it tighter. Look online for coupons.

I got all my "losing weight" clothes at Goodwill, Salvaton Army, Savers and Consignment Stores. You need to check them often as stock turns over fast.

My rule has been when I can take my jeans off without unbuttoning them, they NEED to go! Go out and buy a couple things that fit now - either from the clearance rack, consignment store, thrift shop, Marshalls/TJ Maxx/JC Penney - wherever you can get them cheap. I've discovered the joy of the consignment shop - I buy nice clothes for cheap, and I get to sell my too-big clothes to put towards the new clothes.

Shirts I play by ear, but if I can grab a fistful of extra fabric on each side, I should stop wearing them.

I know it's hard to buy clothes you have no intention of wearing for long, but I've managed to have a small wardrobe of clothes that fit all along. I've spent no more than $20 on jeans (as little as $7), and $12 on tops (as little as $5), so it can be done! I feel so much better when I wear clothes that fit.

I know exactly what you mean! I used to hate clothes shopping, but there is a big consignment store that has great clothing prices and it's fun to hunt for a deal there.

I borrowed clothes from other girlfriends who were either about to donate old clothes or getting rid of clothing from their own weight loss. I also went to Goodwill and bought a few pieces from Wal-Mart, since they aren't made to last. :-)

Go to thrift stores. You will be so happy to have clothes that fit. I am sure you have forgotten how nice it is to have clothes that fit. then when you grow out of them, donate and get new ones. I am able to shop exclusively at thrift stores now that my size is smaller. It is really fun.

I love thrift stores!! That was my mainstay as I was losing weight and still is for the most part. It's amazing what you can find when thrifting. Give it a shot.

I went to the thrift store and found only one pair...figure since I am not going to stay a size 16 I was not going to spend $30 on shorts. I also use a belt for my jeans that no longer fit. I wear them under a longer shirt and you can't tell they are all baggy around the waist. I am hoping as I get smaller the thrift store will have more. I refuse to waste money on clothes I am giving away(and I am giving away any size I can no longer wear because I WILL NEVER wear that size again.)

I don't know how quickly you're losing weight, but I find that my losses are slow enough that I end up wearing those clothes long enough to reduce some of the guilt. And what others have said, once you get out of the plus sizes, it's easier to find decent stuff at a good price.

Can you take some of your 18s in?

Otherwise Old Navy (especially now, with the sales!) or thrift stores like others have suggested! I got most of my inbetween clothes at thrift stores and ON's clearance section.

Do you have any outlet malls near you? I've also had great success there.

I shop at Goodwill all the time and find stuff new with tags! I would check that and thrift shops out. :-)
