Default MEGA thirsty

So every since I started out with this weight loss plan. I've noticed that I'm WAY more thirsty then before. I can not stop drinking water, which isn't bad.. Anyone else experience this?

(not sure if this is where I am supposed to post this. Sorry if it's not.)

Excessive thirst is a symptom of diabetes, so be cautious. That being said, is it possible you are eating more sodium? Keep an eye on the thirst, though.

Depends really. I'm the same way. I drink over a gallon of water a day. I workout a lot which means a ton of sweating. I know I don't have diabetes as I've recently had blood work done so that doesn't worry me. If it is something that recently started happening in relation to your diet change and adding exercise it's *probably* normal.

When in doubt, call you doctor.

Honestly i was coming into this thread to say that I am also excessively thirsty lately, but last year at 190lb I got blood work done and everything was fine, but now I'm scared, maybe I'll get in touch with my doctor and do another one.

But to be fair, i don't drink anything else, at all, but water all day, and i think my obsession with "retaining water" forces me to drink a lot of water (about 15 cups )

It just recently happened. Before I wasn't nearly as thirsty as I am now. So I don't think it has to do with Diabetes. I am per-diabetic though but my doctor said that once I start loosing the weight I wont be per-diabetic anymore..

I dont think I'm eating more sodium.. I'm basically eating the same as I was before (Just way less).. My diet before was healthy.. I just ate a lot. LOL

I find the opposite. When I eat less I'm less thirsty. I probably have no more than 7 cups of total fluid per day.

same here. I used to drink over a gallon of water a day... I probably still do, just in the form of coffee and teas. also means I have to go to the bathroom often. I am getting tested for diabetes though, doesn't hurt to check!

I'm on the thirsty train too! I find that the more I drink, the more I want! I drink at least 80oz a day, sometimes far more. I think we could be doing far worse things to our bodies than drinking water.

Yup your right.

I found now though that being major thirsty has calmed down a lot since I've been working out. (Except of course when I'm doing the working out.)

I'm on the thirsty boat too. Mind you I find that the more water I drink, the more I want.

Just my two cents (probably only worth one) - I have found when I'm coming out of a less-than-stellar round of eating, I get killer thirsty. I wonder if the body is seeing a chance to flush out some junk, and helps it along by sending thirsty signals?

For me, if I have gone a few days without drinking the water that I should, I lose my thirst and my munchies and cravings go way up. I believe it is my body trying to get what it needs and since I am not supplying it, it is trying something else. When I get back on track and drink what I should, my thirst goes way up. I like to think that it's just my body trying to give me information.

So, by all means, have your doc check it out, but don't stress over it.
