Default "What's you secret?!"....anyone else SICK of this?

I swear, the next person who asks me the question, "What's your SECRET?!" after they compliment me on my weight loss is going to get a clout upside the head. I'm not sure *why* the question has begun to bother me so much, but...it just really does.

I can understand not being *ready* to lose weight, whatever the reason may be...I can understand lacking the willpower, or whatever....but I think that all of us here know that there is no "secret" to losing weight (or at least trying to). Eat less, move more. That's not exactly classified information, is it?

I guess the reason it's begun to annoy me so much is because I don't think I've really come to grips with the amount of weight I've lost. (OK, yes, 65 pounds isn't much in comparison to some people here, but still.) And so when people go ape over how much I've lost and go on about how I should share my "secret" with them, I'm standing there thinking, ".....Really? You think there's some 'secret' to this? Dude, if *I* could do this, *anyone* can."

Can anyone else relate to this?

I'm just starting out, start my 5th week tomorrow...so I can't WAIT until people start asking me how I did it.

But I can see how it would get on my nerves after a while.

Still, congrats on losing the 65!

Yes and No. If it's the same person asking me again and again (which is happening) then I am sorely tempted to say: "It hasn't changed since the last time you asked me."

If someone asks me for the first time, I don't mind. It's when they tell me I'm lying that I mind. I did have one person accuse me of taking diet pills, but I just avoid talking about weight loss with them.

haha, I think they keep asking because they want to hear that you're taking a magical diet pill and eating cake all day. It crushes their dreams.

If you are taking a magic pill and eating cake all day will you please let me in on the secret? I so love cake..... But otherwise, I think people really have not seen that overweight people really ever change just using the eat less, move more motto, because it's so hard that most people just give up. It's uncommon to see great success with it, and it's so boring that people want it to be more glamourized and fancy shmancy. I get aggravated with people that want to ask me what I cut out-"Is it sugar? Is it fat? Is it carbohydrates? WHAT IS IT JUST TELL ME ALREADY!!!!!!" Because there is so much conflicting information out there, that people just don't understand this phenomenon of hard work and watching what you eat. By the way, what is your secret?? (Totally joking-and I'm too far to get clouted from here...)

omg yes! I got this all day on Mothers Day when visiting family. It was both very overwhelming and annoying having converstaions about my weightloss all day long. Now that i've seen everybody I hope next family event there won't be nearly as much talk about my weight loss and "how did you do it".

LOL yes it is... thank you

Really the only part that bothers me is that, like many of you have noticed (or will in the near future) when you tell people that you workout, eat wisely, and are consistent with your method of choice they just start to zone you out! If only eating cake and taking a pill were the answer, but it's not! Yes, cake can have it's place but mostly it's hard work and dedication, and folks don't want to hear that.

I am at the start of my diet so never been asked it. I hate adverts and things about miracle diet secrets and super foods and things. I find it insulting... as IF we are that stupid, everyone knows it doesn't work like that!!

I don't think anyone has actually asked me that question! I've had a lot of people ask me what I did to lose the weight, and some have seemed surprised that it was something as simple and basic as calorie counting and exercise, but no one who has asked what the "secret" is. Not sure why!

There is a secret - it's the secret that no one wants to hear because it's not the quick fix or magic pill:

You have to want it bad enough that you do it.

It does get annoying. Clearly, I'm eating less and trying to exercise. I'm pretty sure everyone knows it's nothing more or less than that. It's not as annoying as people telling me how much weight I should or shouldn't lose...like this is their body.

Exactly!

I haven't lost that much, but when people ask me I say "I work my a$$ off in the gym and eat sensibly". Most people just say "Oh".
