Height: 5'3"

Default How many calories do I really need?

I'm 5'3" and 173 lbs. I do Jillian Michaels 30 day shred almost every day. I usually allow myself up to 1400 cals but lately I've had around 1200. Does 1200-1400 seem right?

It's hard to tell, and the "calories needed" calculators that you'll find online are just estimates. They're a good starting point, though. I like the calculator on freedieting.com. If you use that one, see what it tells you, try that level for a couple of weeks, and see if you lose. We're all an experiment of one.

Thanks! Yep, it said around 1400 so I'll try sticking to that for awhile.

Yes, see how it goes. I have found freedieting is the "safe" calories-needed calculator because it tends to underestimate one's needs at times (it did for me, anyway). But I still used it while losing because I wanted to err on the side of losing more rather than less.
