Default G'day

Hi,

Aussie guy here who is 3 days in to a new life changing phase.

I'm not on any diet plan as such, but looking to try a high protein, low carb diet and hopefully learn a lot from others and get a successful outcome.

My motivation and goal is to slim down to have a more enjoyable ride in a plane to the US in October 2013. I went to the US last year and found at times for the ride to be claustrophobic as I like to sit up, whenever the person in front reclined their seat it meant I had to lean back and recline my seat, but being obese, made it very uncomfortable.

Also I will be going to Disneyland and hope to go on rides and enjoy them

Welcome!

I've had issues in the past with riding amusement park rides that would not lock because of my size. The scary thing is that I was 14 yrs of age at the time.

I travelled from the states to the Philippines 18 months ago, and I'm startled by the cultural differences with weight. I didn't have an issue with the flights themselves (as I'm certain from AU to US the flying hours must be similiarly hellish).

While I certainly met some overweight people, the lack of larger clothing sizes and the knowledge that most transportation/dining accomodations/etc are designed for much smaller-framed people. I doubt I'm the only obese person that feels this way, but I have a very large personal-space bubble. This was something I didn't anticipate having issues with overseas.

Anyhow, welcome and good luck to you sir

Thank you and good luck to you too

Yeah I haven't been on amusement park rides since 2000 and obviously I'm bigger now compared to then.

My main reason for putting on weight was probably from giving up smoking in the early 2000's and found food comforting and the lack of exercise to go with it. The other thing is that I would look at myself in the mirror and kid myself I looked ok, it's only when I see pictures of myself with others then I see an overweight person. I know in myself bending over to do my shoelace can be an effort and I think I have to do something now before it gets too late. I'm still young enough to do lots of things and I've always been a sporty active person. Losing weight and getting more energy will help me get the movement again, just the other day I was doing exercises at home and realised how hard it had become, that was probably the reason why I now have to make changes for a better future.
