Smile Calorie Counting and Me

Just some of my thoughts~

A friend of mine had a gastric bypass 2 months ago and has been in and out of the hospital with complications ever since. I don't need surgery ... I just need to be accountable to myself.

I'm new to 3FatChicks but not new to the weight loss battle. I've tried many diets including WW, Atkins, South Beach, Eating Right For Your Type, and even lost 50+ pounds by starving myself on a 500 calorie diet.

I'm 50 years old and my poor knees are screaming at me ... I have to do this! ... I want to do this! Fortunately, I am comfortable with calorie counting and I know it works for me as long as I keep at it and don't let anything/anyone get in the way. I have some health issues that keep me from being as active as I should but I won't let that stop me. I have the mind-set, I'm on my way, and I'm glad to have you all with me!

I'm looking forward to consignment shopping for smaller clothes!

Welcome! I am 50 also. I am new to dieting and calorie counting, so I look forward to benefitting from your experience. The one thing I do know is losing weight is mostly about the food and not nearly as much about the exercise, so hopefully your knee issues won't hold you back.

I look forward to seeing you around the boards!

Thanks for the support, Carol, Bargoo, and sontaikle!!
I love looking at your starting and current weights!~ That alone, is very inspiring!!

Carol, it seems you are reaching for the low end of what's considered a healthy weight for your height and age. At 143, I'm sure you look great now!

And that is why I leave mine up , I want to see where I have been and where I am , now, it is a constant reminder of what I used to be and what I don't want to return to.

Welcome eatmorecelery. I am not sure active and with calorie counting i still lose weight. when I calculated my calories i did it based on minimum/no exervcise and when I do go for walks, i dont eat the calories i used when I walked, so it still works. I think its great to exercise but not essential. You can revisit the exercise thing when you lose some weight and the pressure on your knees ease up. x

Today I feel fat, fat, fat! I feel like my side rolls and my belly rolls are gonna meet up and get married. It sure is an icky feeling.

Thank you Liliann!!

I am determined to do everything I can do to keep on track!

Mid morning today I found myself looking in the fridge and pantry (uh oh) but instead of grabbing something I hadn't planned for I behaved and made a cup of hot green tea with Splenda in it. If I'm still unsatisfied after the tea I'm leaving the house for a few hours so I can't reach the pantry or fridge.

Welcome I'm also new but have been dieting since I was 15 years old, I am now 60. Everybody on this board seems friendly and helpful. Good for you not eating anything out of the fridge. Fizzy water helps me, that way I am not getting soda pop and it seems to help my stomach.

jmNwis50,
Thanks for the welcome~
Fizzy water is an interesting idea. I want to try Crystal Light although I'm not a great fan of unnatural chemicals but I get tired of drinking plain water.

Hope everyone has a marvelous Monday!! ~for all!

Just had to say that I broke the 220 mark this morning with a 219.8. Granted, I'm losing fast because I recently restarted calorie counting but I'm happy with the scale at the moment and wanted to share.

I wish everyone similar success this week!
