Talking **Small but very proud accomplishment**

I know it isn't a lot but I am really proud of myself!

Today was definitely a lazy day for me. I only walked a mile today and when I don't stay active is when I used to fall off the wagon.

Tonight I cooked everyone dinner..SPAGHETTI!! (ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES!!) and the way my family cooks it, its easy to have 2000 calories in one bowl!... and it smelled so goooooood.... and it looked so goooooood.... AND I DIDN'T EAT A SINGLE BIT OF IT!!!! THAT'S RIGHT I STUCK TO MY DIET!!

one of my favorite things is to have breakfast for dinner so my lunch consisted of the following:

*1 egg white with pepper=75 cal with the yoke..I'm not sure without so I left it at 75
*1 slice of 15 grain bread toasted=100 cal
*4 large strawberries=rounded to 100
*16 oz. of water
(this may not seem like a alot but I was completely satisfied!!)

It felt SO good to watch everyone eat the pasta and eat my breakfast. I wrote everything in my food journal and was good. This has never happened before! I know it's small but I am incredibly proud of myself. Has anyone else over come temptation like this?

I congratulate you! It is a big thing to realize that food does not have the power we bestow upon it. It is powerless if you are committed, and it sounds like you are. I had a day at work where one of the reps brought us pizza. Greasy, cheesy, delicious doughy pizza. And I ate absolutely none of it. I ate what I brought for my planned lunch. No guilt, no extra calories, and I did not miss it at all. Since that day, I have walked by countless platters of brownies, cakes, treats, candies, breads, sandwiches, chips, pretzels, and so much more. I even had ONE cupcake on easter, and it didn't lead to a binge of eating all of the cupcakes. Every avoidance of junk is a success. You should be proud, beause spaghetti is a particularly tempting mistress. I have to eat a huge salad with lots of veggies before, and then measure out exactly one cup of cooked spaghetti and however much sauce I want, then eat very slowly. I love spaghetti too. Good job!

Good job to you to! I love pizza as well! lol Thank you for sharing with me as well, I appreciate that. I'm glad I didn't eat it because I completely forgot about the guilt. I would have been kicking myself in the a**!! lol

Great job! That is a great accomplishment! I have also realized that food is totally not gonna win anymore. Today was bad for me, my mom brought my kids pizza, cheese sticks and cinnamin dipper's for lunch for a special treat. I ate none of it. My mom even bagged them up some to come home with us and still I ate none. Pizza is my favoriate! but, whatever.. I would rather see this weight gone and be able to run with my kids than eat pizza!
Have you tried cooking a healthy version of spaghetti? I know the noodles have carbs and such but just limit those.
I cook mine with no salt cans of tomato sauce, no salt diced tomatoes, lean ground turkey, chopped onion and bell pepper. I season it to my taste. Maybe that would work for you. Honestly, I hope that is healthy and I am not looking like a idiot on here telling you what I cook lol. Sounds healthy to me but I am new to this .. everything in small portions of course.
keep up the good work!!!

1 egg white is about 20 calories

I have a suggestion with the pasta. It's how I eat everything since I have a large appetite, but I'm in the lower caloric range.

I usually eat either 1-2oz pasta (1/2-1 cup cooked) and saute onions, peppers, mushrooms, spinach, then add my sauce. I often have more veggies than pasta in my bowl.

If it's spaghetti, I like to do zucchini pasta and either mix it with the pasta at least 50:50 but sometimes 75:25 or eat as is with sauce.

Another option is spaghetti squash (1 cup is 40 calories) which can be microwaved, baked, or boiled while you're cooking.

That sounds really good! I will certainly have to try that. I've been having fun playing with different healthy recipes and such. Thank you for the great ideas =)

Figure I'd help out with this

1 Egg white is 17 calories
slice of bread is 100 calories based on your input above
4 large strawberries is only about 40 calories
water = calorie free!

So, you really only had about 160 calories. Why only one egg white? Goodness woman, load up on those! 17 calories, pure protein!

Congrats on saying no to the spaghetti too... I'm generally good about saying no to things, but having to cook it and watch everyone else enjoy it would be so difficult!

I often make things for my family and then make something different for myself. Most of the time though, I just eat a varied version of what they eat. Like using spaghetti squash instead of the pasta noodles, and cauliflower rice instead of normal rice. The only time I usually end up eating something completely different is when I make lasagne, because I don't have any separate sauce.

I have my entire family eating everything with 50:50 veggies. It wasn't a big transition because I grew up in a pretty vegetable-centered household, but it really solidified once I got the visual from my nutritionist that HALF of my plate should be veggies. I had never really thought about it in that way. Instead of making my veggies "side dishes" I like to think of how I'm going to make one pot meals that incorporate them 50% or I center my meal around whatever beautiful produce I've picked up.

For example, if I make an egg and cheese sandwich, I'll make sure my eggs are cooked with plenty of greens (spinach, kale, collards - whatever is on hand). I even make my cheese sauce half cauliflower puree. I spread it onto my sandwiches, but I warm it and add pasta for my four year old.

JossFit: Honestly because I don't really eat much at one time. After the slice of bread and the egg and the strawberries I was very satisfied..didn't want the "full" feeling, ya know? I had no idea my egg whites have only been 17 calories. My overall calories for the day in my food journal have been a little off to say the least lol Thank you for the info btw.

JessicaB: That is a good idea. I love that we can replace not so healthy things with their alternative and pretty much have the same meal with a fraction of the calories.

Munchy: I have a pretty big vegetable oriented family as well. We grew up eating green peppers and carrots for snacks(one of my favorites as a kid). And I've never had any trouble with fruits or vegetables. I can eat an entire bag of baby carrots by myself. lol My problem is that somewhere in the mix I started loving fried chicken and corn bread and mac and cheese and all that. (my grandma used to make the best food)I have the butt to show for it but I also have the stomach as well. 50% veggies is a great idea. I'm going to try and incorporate that in my meals today and give it a try!

Great job. Resisting food that's in front of me like that is very hard for me.

That's a great achievement! I'm working on doing things like that myself. My favorite is when I make spaghetti to use about a quarter cup spaghetti noodles on my plate and then load on 2 cups of steamed veggies and put the sauce on top of it all. It still tastes great, I get a little noodles, and some vegetables. Mmm...
