I work at 6 then right after work we're going to load in the car and head over to pool-land. Mom is coming and we'll return tomorrow night after ski traffic. It will be nice to spend Easter Sunday at our own church.
I'll make a salad to take but that's all. I have a freezer over there with lots of dinner opportunities that are SBD friendly.
What's on your agenda this weekend? Stop and say hi
I had a lovely and restorative couple of days at my DD's, and now I feel rested and re-energized for the rest of the weekend. This morning is groceries and a drive out to my favorite Amish plant nursery for some cold weather seedlings, then back home to prep for tomorrow. We're having the usual Easter ham with all the accompaniments, but there we're also including several healthy and yummy veggie side dishes, too. My only concession for the holiday will be eating a cannoli for dessert. And I will thoroughly enjoy it without guilt.
Cottage!!! You just had to mention cannoli! I love them and haven't had one since the NJ tribe were here a years ago Christmas. Strange I never see them at bake sales around here.
Debbie, so nice to be at home for Easter Day. You must be forced to be organized with all the trekking across the Divide.
Had a great evening with the Hyper Pypers and their two dogs last night. My two will be doing a lot of snoozing today since they played the whole time. The roast pork was a tad overdone but still good. Now to figure out what to do with the leftovers. Maybe slice and make into sandwiches to be frozen for feeding the workers at the Delta Syrup Festival in two weeks? I did send the remains of the rum cake home and did not eat any myself.
Today I have to re-print the Church Bulletins. I did them quickly and have printed the same page twice missing part of the service. Duh! I'll get at that this morning before I get dressed. Luckily I have lots of ink and paper for a change. That job and dressing the Church for Easter is about all that's on the agenda. I do have to drive the whale to his home base to get the plates off my poor deceased Focus. I know there is a dog water dish under the seat and a few other things to get cleaned out.
Glorious sunshine out there and I hope it warms up a bit. It's still a tad chilly for coffee on the deck at 31ºF! Canadians are a hardy lot but not dumb.
Linda, glad to hear the word "restorative"! It sounds wonderful and I'm hoping for some myself. Your weekend sounds perfect-enjoy!
Ruth, your evening with the Pypers sounded fun, especially for the pups. Kudos for not busting into the rum cake and for sending the leftovers away. Glad you caught the printing error in advance. Yes, I'm pretty organized with the travel thing. I also have lots of duplicates so I don't have to haul everything.
Guess I'd better shut down the computer and start the shift towards work. DH made our smoothie this morning. It was very nice. He had never made one until he took the vitamix with him while I worked on floors. It makes me happy as he embraces this healthy lifestyle.
One meal down. I did end up choosing the restaurant which always helps. I had this: Our delicious low-fat chicken salad is prepared with slow-roasted chicken breast, fat-free yogurt, celery, onion, and dried cranberries. Served on a bed of baby greens with seasonal berries and toasted almonds. And the scale was kind to me today, very unusual after any restaurant meal, even an OP one.
Today I work from 12-4 then we have a Passover seder at my mom's. It will be harder to stay OP there; I only get matzo ball soup once a year, after all. But I'm very motivated right now Then I'll come home and mix up the bean salad I'm bringing to my in-law's big gathering tomorrow so the flavors can have time to develop.
Have a great weekend, all. Happy Passover and/or Easter to all who celebrate one or the other or both.
Really quick fly by, although I did enjoy reading about everyone this AM! I'm prepping for the pet sitter (5 cats and one dog....) and getting ready for work. I work 9-2 today, then a friend picks me up at 3 pm for a flight out at 4 pm. I'm REALLY hoping to get on the earlier flight, otherwise 3 hours in Philly . Then into NC tonight!
Wasn't it a gorgeous sunrise this morning? Very fitting for this very special day.
I have 2 cinnamon tea rings rising nicely, and as soon as the grandkids are up, I'll pop them in the oven for a special Easter breakfast. Then it will be off to church and a brief stop at Mom's to give her her Easter basket, which is a beautiful hanging basket of cheery pansies. She doesn't have a green thumb, so this these be easy for her to take care of.
The family will be here sometime after noon, then our little cottage will be bursting at the seams for the rest of the day.
Come and have a coffee with me before this day gets going.
Thanks Cottage and a Blessed Easter to you and yours. If I left right after Church, I could be there for dinner. Whoops! Maybe not - the Olds whale means I could not afford the gas. I'm in tank shock as our gas is up over $1.43 per liter which is about .38 of a gallon. The whale prefers hi-test!
I am off to our 8:30 service and then will have brunch with Claire's family. I'll be having Easter Dinner in Kemptville with Jim's in-laws. I am counting on no big blizzard for driving home tonight. (I still shudder when I recall that awful drive home Christmas night.)
Our weather is brilliantly sunny today - most appropriate for this Easter/Passover weekend. Enjoy your day!
Hope your day is blessed. I have been back from my mini holiday and even a few days throws me off. I really celebrate Easter next weekend with a traditional breakfast and a very long service. Having a nice dinner with family tonight though. Is creme brulee SB friendly? Just joking.
Back on track tomorrow because the first two weeks of June will be spent on the beach in South Caroline and that means bathing suit time.
Again, have a nice day today and count your blessings.
take care
Sophie
