Chickadee, the 19 g of protein is from the substitution of protein powder for one of the ingredients and the addition of almond milk. (See EmmaD's post in the thread.) I think quinoa flakes would work well in these and would up the protein even more.
These sound really good. Can't wait to try them in P2. What category is almond milk? I'd like to use it smoothies but I don't want to go overboard if there's a specific limitation. I couldn't find anything that tells me.
In a separate note, being new here, I have to say the recipe section is AMAZING. I'd built a pretty good collection of Dukan recipes but the incredible amount of recipes here broken into each phase with feedback and variations is a dream come true for someone like me. So to all the contributors- thanks!!
Dang, I had forgotten about these! Thanks for the reminder.
And all this talk of quinoa flakes makes me think I need to find them. I have never seen them before (but I have also never looked). I would imagine Whole Foods has them. If not, Amazon has a 12 ounce box for $4.62.
Personally I don't count almond milk in any category though others may have a different take on it. There is so little of anything in it that I don't worry about it.
I made these last night. I bought Hemp Protein Powder (didn't know which kind to get, so this one was suggested)
Yep, the breakfast bars are green!!!! But very good. I made Banana and Choc Chip, then Papaya and Applesauce (this one I added rice flour - which was a mistake-they got doughy).
Both were green in color but very good. Thank you SB forum.
I used about 1/4 cup ground oatmeal and the rest quinoa flakes. They remind me of instant mashed potatoes. I will use them again, I just can't digest uncooked or undercooked oatmeal for some odd reason.
