Default Goal Rewards

A friend of mine and I (both of us are trying to get fit an healthy) were discussing types of motivation when to comes to weight loss the other days, and we ended up on the topic of rewards for hitting mini-goals and the big goal, so I thought I would ask you lovely people how you reward yourselves when you hit a goals.

I actually made a list for my rewards.

10 lbs - MP3 player (to listen to music at the gym)
20 lbs - New Workout Clothes
30 lbs - New Running Shoes
50 lbs - Better MP3 Player (the first one I buy is going to be a little small inexpensive one)
70 lbs - A pair of black high-top converse
90 lbs - Skinny Jeans
100 lbs - Navel piercing
120 lbs - Jean shorts
140 lbs - Bikini
160 lbs - Wedding dress

Those sounds like lovely rewards!

I was kinda broke when I started my WL journey so I didn't plan any rewards (I also never thought I would make it, so there's that). When I was done my cell phone upgrade came around so I thought I deserved a nice iPhone 4s though!

I have a gajillion little mini goals (2 lbs to have lost 80, 8.1 lbs to get into the 200s), but don't have rewards for them in place. I'll just scream, jump up and down and high five whoever is there!

I do plan on some celebratory clothes shopping when I hit my 100 lb lost milestone and then take a big vacation somewhere I've never been when I hit my 200 lb goal (Hawaii maybe!?!)

This might be unusual but my parents have a reward set up for me once I reach my big goal (232 lbs lost). My dad has started a plastic surgery fund for me. It might not cover all costs, but it def alleviates some stress and worry about the state of my body after massive weight loss. Makes me feel like a kid (I'm 36), but they want to do it and no way am I turning down that amount of money.

My dad says if I fail, he and my mother will take a long European vacation. I've become determined to not let that happen!!! haha That money is MINE!!

Haha, some awesome folks you got there, Freckles. I'm going to start my own little cosmetic jar, or Cosmetic Savings Account, or something. Even if not for the skin, I think I would like to maybe have my breasts lifted, since I anticipate them looking something like balloons that someone has let all the air out of. (TMI?)

I use the rewards system for pretty much anything, not just weight loss (studying for exams, finishing a work project). I like how your rewards get more substantial as you lose more weight, this will keep you motivated on the long run. Also, you reminded me how much I want a pair of black converse, I love wearing them with dresses.

I don't do rewards for my weight loss, but I am terrible when it comes to exercise so I do more of a bribe as added motivation for my exercise. Each week that I stick to my running schedule, I let myself purchase a song or two to listen to when I'm running. So far it's working fairly well, it's fairly inexpensive and it keeps me from being bored with with workout music.

I've never really thought about the rewards along the way but i do want to get another tattoo when i get to my goal weight. Something to signify that "yes i can do something if i set my mind to it and want it" and courage and all that good stuff.

I'm .6 lbs. away from a new pair of shoes!

I think it adds a bit of excitement when you are getting closer to that goal reward.

Shoes!!! A year ago, when I started, I wore a skirt & heels thinking I looked good until I caught myself in the mirror - I had always loved my legs..until this point. They were like two big sausages...not good. So, I saved & saved & had a birthday recently...and this Spring, I'll be rocking these!!! It's my super big splurge but - better shoes than food!

Once upon a time I was at 285 and my husband was around 240. I told him that was getting a pair of awesome biker boots once I weighed less than him. That was . . . three years ago? I'm currently in the 250's and he now weighs 215.

I still have my eyes set on those boots though, and I'll get them someday.

In the meantime I've been trying to think of other rewards I could get for myself, especially since I restarted my weight loss efforts last month. I'm a little lost at what I can splurge on though.

Rewards are a great idea! I like cloths as a rewards idea. Since hopefully I'll be shrinking out of mine.

Since I regained weight recently my inital reward will be that I'll be able to wear some awesome jeans I bought shortly before I put on weight. I'm not gonna plan rewards between 183 and 170, I have cloths in plenty at this spectrum since its been my weight for awhile. (until recently) Besides those jeans are like new. I'm guessing they will fit at around 170, so thats the first.
170 lbs- Jeans already in closet! (also my fitted shirts that have been relagated to the back of the closet cause they hug my recently expanded muffin top)
165 lbs- A summery dress (if its still warm enough)
160 lbs- New running pants (I fell and tore a hole in the knee of mine )
155 lbs- A whole new cute outfit, whatever tickles my fancy because this is goal!!!

I made a list of goal rewards, too, though I only have one left that I've planned (a wallet in two pounds). I rewarded myself with a lovely purse when I got into the 170's and I think I like it enough I'm going to make purses (or skirts off Etsy!) my reward for the next few ten pounds blocks. I think I have accidentally become a bag junkie

I don't have a planned list. But one thing is a charm necklace...with charms I choose for each milestone along the way. They have the necklace and charms at Hobby Lobby in the bead section. They have so many choices and they are surprisingly cute and inexpensive. Most are under $2-3.

Another thing I have started is saving every dollar bill marked with a G (for goal) and using that for a reward. I was thinking at Onderland (about halfway) and at my main goal. I only have about $7 so far. So, it might be smallish. Like a workout outfit or a new hair style. Not set in stone yet.

A new hairstyle sounds so cool! I hacked all of mine off recently, so that's out the window for me for a few months, but that is still a neat idea.
