Hmmm, persimmon?

  • Is persimmon allowed in Ph 2? I think I like it (eating it dried) but not sure if it's more like a sweet potato or what. Thoughts?
  • gosh Jenne I hope someone can give you some info..I tried wiki'ing it and was overcome by too much information, lol. However I do remember it said it was 'a true berry' whatever that means.
  • I know Holly! I looked it up and it looked like a tomato - one ounce of it has 4g of sugar though I am eating a mic with apples and pears. So far, no cravings so maybe I don't want to know?

But it felt kind of, starchy.
  • We used to have a wild persimmon bush/tree down the road. They were just like little cherry tomatoes that made your mouth pucker up like you would not believe if they weren't totally ripe! When ripe though they are very, very sweet...are these the kind you're eating? I've seen persimmons in the grocery store; they looked the same, just a lot bigger than the ones we used to have. After eating a few green ones as a child, though, I've never had the inclination to buy them.

    Did you like the persimmon?

ETA I just noticed you were eating it dried. How was it?
  • Love it and delicious! I just hope they are on plan. Not eating a lot (serving of dried fruit) and no cravings.
  • I can't find anything on persimmons, Jenne, but I can't imagine why they wouldn't be allowed.
But as always, be careful on the dried ones. It's too easy to go overindulge on the dried fruit.
