Default 50lbs down ....

Hi everyone

I have been dieting, scratch that, changing my life style for about a year now and have lost 50lbs. I use sparkpeople.com and love their philosophy that to be healthy you must live healthy.

I have a 7 year old daughter and my husband recently lost his battle against pancreatic cancer. He was 46. I have found it hard to lose weight over the last few months and need some inspiration. I came here after doing a google search on the hair product Wen and got some good advice. Then I noticed the site was a dieting site and thought I would come on in and check it out.

My starting weight [but I believe not my heaviest weight] was 317lbs @ 5' 4" I am now 267lbs.

Hi and welcome! So sorry for your loss. I also have a 7year old daughter as well as a 10 year old son. They are one of the reasons for losing the weight (giving a good example to them).

I'm so sorry to hear that your husband lost his battle with cancer. I lost a sister to cancer. This is a great site and I've read a lot of posts on different threads that have motivated me. I've been posting on several today and everyone seems so nice and give great advice. Good luck to you.

Really sorry to hear about your husband's passing - this must be hard for you and your child. You've done well losing 50 pounds, it's not easy to stick with it. Maybe you needed a little break - what were you doing to lose? Did you just calorie count?

Welcome to 3fc.

I'm so so sorry for the loss of your husband. What a difficult journey you have been on, let alone your weight loss journey. I am also so amazed and impressed at your success at losing weight during such a difficult time.

You clearly already know what to do to lose weight, you just have to find in yourself the inspiration to continue. Every person's inspiration is different here: for some it's their children, others it's boyfriends/girlfriends, for others it's pretty clothes, and then there are upcoming special occasions. And the most common one: health.

I'm sure that you can be inspired by one or two of those, and until then - just keep putting one foot in front of the other. You're doing great!
