Default SRSLY AGAIN? ( a little upset)

Hello again..

well this is my THIRD INTRODUCTION thread in the last 3-4 years I've known about this board

a little background info

the first time I CAME HERE I was a mother of 2.. had just had my second child 9 months ago
and was ready to make a healthy lifestyle change FOR LIFE!! I managed to lose 30 lbs in just 4 months
and I did it all by counting calories and exercising just 30 min a day 3 to 4 times a week

mostly walking at the park or alternating Leslie Sanson walking vids or the biggest loser cardio max

This was a sweet victory to a girl who had been overweight most of her adult life.

Looking back in retrospect I just got comfortable with myw eight loss.. heck I was looking better
than ever before and was getting so many compliments I stopped losing and working hard at it.
I should have kept pushing past that wall and lost about 30 more to be completely healthy.

I got had a few hardships financially and then got lazy.. I started drinking beer more often on the weekends

Slowly I put on about 20 lbs.. then.. I got pregnant again with my 3rd child

she as all my children are a blessing and I love them dearly.. I gained 40 lbs on top of the 20 I gained back
for a whopping 60 lb gain from where I used to be.

I got into another rut :/

and well folks that leaves me to where I am today.

where am I today you may ask? :P

well I am floating around at 226-230 depending on if I just worked out or what I drank/ate

For the past 2 AND HALF weeks I've been going to the gym and I EVEN Hired a personal trainer to teach me to box

I am kind of a "tough" sporty girlie girl type.

very competitive in nature.. My sister who has always been bigger than me recently lost 70 lbs in the past 7 months
and she is now smaller than me.. I know I shouldn't judge my own success by someone elses'
but I can't help but feel like a failure.. but I digress.

She looks fabulous btw :P

anyway.. Here is where the negative thinking gets in the way.

I know enough about weight loss/ fitness to know that

the reason I'm not seeing a drop in the scale lately is maybe because I'm gaining muscle or retaining water

but LAST TIME I set my mind to lose weight it started dropping immediatly.. I would
AT THE VERY LEAST see a 2 lb difference per week.

now I am seeing nothing and it is DISCOURAGING.

I have owned 3 scales in the past 3 years and they have all broke :P

So now I just have a crappy 5$ one that usually weighs me more than the gym.

I feel like I've been working my butt off the past 2 and 1/2 weeks
I've been going to the gym 5 days a week and spending atleast an hour there

doing the treadmill, stationary bike or boxing

and I'm like KILLING IT in there too.. I don't piddle along.. I do intervals of walking/ jogging

I bump it up to level 7 on the treadmill occasinally. I walk about 3.2 rpm on average

but the scale.. HAS.......... NOT............ MOVED..

If anything it goes up .. I have also been counting my calories..

I spoke to my trainer and told him I was trying to keep it at around 1200-1500 a day
I mean after all my sister who was much heavier than me was eating that much and it was
coming off fantasically (she also does about an hour at the gym daily)

why is it not working for me this time?

he told me I wasn't eating ENOUGH.. He told me I should AT LEAST EAT 1500
and eventually he would get me eating 2000

I feel like he's nuts.. I could really lose this weight eating 2000 calories a day?

to give you guys an idea I'm 5'6.. He also measured my body fat and I'm at a whopping 40% right now.

I dunno.. I keep telling myself to go to the gym tonight but.. what if I'm just NOT
doing something right and it's all just a waste of time?
I'm so sorry for this heck of a long post.

I just need a little encouragement and advice my friends

if you read this.. thank you so very much

Don't know what your goal weight is but I would listen to your trainer, I don't think I would go below 1500 calories a day, Try it for 2-3 weeks and see what happens.

Your trainer is right. 1200 cals a day is for a short, already in the healthy weight range, inactive girl. At your weight and height, you will probably lose weight at a good rate eating around 1600-1700 cals and being inactive, but you ARE active, so you need to eat even more. Try it !

I am in the same position. 2 weeks and Nothing. BUT today I beat my mile from the first time I went walking 3 weeks ago by 3 mins! Just because it isn't showing on the outside doesn't mean it isn't working! Keep up the hard work. You will get there! Now I find myself doing things I couldn't do a month ago. Yes its frustating to not lose anything but if you feel better that is success! Keep going and as I'm sure you know we are here to support you! I'm a calorie counter and I work out 6 to 7 days a week...walking, videos, kinect workout games, etc. I eat a max of 1380 calories a week. If he tell you to eat that much and you aren't comfortable I would talk to him. Do what is best for you!

ahhhhhhhhh thank you so much for your replies guys!! Sorry for the broken up type , typing as well.. I did it in notebook because my browser was being funky. Ok.. I'm going to try to hit around 1700 this week and see what it does.. It's amazing what a little bit of encouragement can do!

Good Luck to all those struggling right along with me too. I hope we start seeing the needle go down sooner rather than later

I'd def listen to your trainer, I have a lot of friends that are personal trainers and they always stress eating enough during the day otherwise your body goes into survival mode and hangs on to everything it possibly can,

Try snacks during the day like fruits and nuts

some of my healthiest friends eat up to 5 times a day!! Keep at it and don't worry so much about the scale right now (hard I know) but your stamina will increase and once your body sees that what you're doing is healthy and routine the inches and pounds will start to come off.
