It doesn't have to be YOU that's the problem. It could be health issues and that is nobody's fault. Things happen.

Instead of hating your body and beating up on yourself -- how about some deep breaths, and then a doc check up to make sure there isn't something ELSE going on there? Hypothyroid for example.

And when you say gained - are you talking about a true gain or a temporary blip?

I could say I've gained weight too. Just gained 2 pounds in three days by eating lower than I burn, but I also know if I stick to it, I'll lose those two pounds plus more in a week or two or three. It's water weight and I just need to wait and be patient.

From what you said just above, I'm thinking you're someone who is normal weight but has issues when it comes to seeing yourself as others see you. This situation is known as body dysmorphic disorder.

I second the idea of seeing a physician who can explain to you whether you need to lose weight or not. And also, you might consider seeing a counselor, or a dietitian who can understand your issues and provide some help and guidance.

Does your doctor think that you are a little overweight?

I am guessing that you are saying that you are more than you want to weigh-(perhaps a lower weight but higher body fat percentage), but BMI-wise at an average weight and worried that people might discourage you from reaching goal weight right?
If you are at a lower weight, it could just be that you are eating enough to maintain but not to lose and going up a few pounds is just water weight. I am not encouraging you to eat less, just saying.
Try exercise to tone your body if you want to get leaner, but it might not help you so much with the numbers unless you cut cals, although that may be hard and unhealthy.

We can't help until we get a fix on what is going on.

I agree that your hatred for your body is the real problem here: you gotta give it love if you want it to work for you! I would suggest counselling.

I'd also recommend lifting weights. If the problem is that you don't like your jiggly bits and carry too high a percentage of body fat, then weight lifting is the solution. You might check out a program like New Rules of Lifting for Abs, which is a full body program that will help you to gain some muscle and lose some fat. New Rules of Lifting for Women is also good.
