Default How do you make yourself feel accountable?

Here's my situation: My husband works nights 7pm-7am a few times a week. During this time, I'm alone in the house by myself and feel COMPLETELY UNACCOUNTABLE for what I eat. I'm a shy eater around others and eating with my husband really helps. He is a light eater and how much he eats gives me a clue about when I should stop, which is great. But when he's not home, I can go kind of crazy with snacks before bed.

Any advice for keeping myself feeling accountable when I'm alone??

Honestly the only person you have to please, be accountable to, or be happy with when it comes to your weight is you! I know that portion control is hard and not binging on the wrong stuff is hard too. I have done the same thing your talking about. But the thing is I have come to realize that my husband loves me no matter what, and I am the only one that is going to be healthier and happier if I lose weight. Looking at it like that helps me remember that its not him binging and its not hurting him its hurting me. I hope that helps I know its hard but I think we are our biggest critics so push your self to give that up it will be worth it in the long run

What about joining a challenge here? There are lots of options and you'll find lots of encouragement (as I'm sure you know) but ultimately- you've got to want it for yourself!

Some time ago I dated a guy who was very much concerned about his weight --and mine, unfortunately-- and could dine on lettuce. When I was around I ate what he ate because I was embarrased to say that I was still hungry after the lettuce and the apple. As soon as I got home, I went straight to the fridge and ate everything I could get hold of.
Maybe you need to learn to eat what you need, both when with him and when not. You are using food for reasons other than hunger, so as you learn to stop on your own and not because he stops, you need to discover what triggers your binges. Being alone? Do you feel abandoned when he works on that schedule? Or do you compensate for what you did not eat before, because you feel deprived? Find out! As long as you do not know that... the problem will continue.
Try to eat less refined carbs... That helps to control what you eat because it lowers your blood sugar.
Good luck!!!
