Default Phase 2 question

So I am day 2 of phase 2 and so far I have added oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, carrots, bananas to my meals. Not a craving in sight. I ate 1 fruit and 1 pasta serving last 2 days for dinner and I was fine. My question... Does everyone have that food that triggers craving? Should I just stick to 1 grain per day cuz I know it's a good spot or should I see how far I can go without dev cravings, how can I find out what my "rhythm" is... Thanks guys!ll

I think it is all up to you. Partly a matter of your personal taste; if it doesn't cause cravings to eat more grains and fruits and you like them, why not? That also assumes you are still losing weight eating them - the other variable.

Some people are just more sensitive to certain things. Grains often set me off. So I eat very little on a regular basis. I don't even keep bread in the house because that in particular is a major craving inducer for me, just having it around. (I will eat it when I am out of the house and my serving size is controlled.)

I also find that the more PH2 foods I add/eat, the less veggies I eat. I'd go for crackers or fruit over veggies for snack anytime! And pasta over a lean protein.

So... everyone is different. But I'd suggest you take do it gradually rather than testing yourself to your limits. But you will have to figure out what you can comfortably live with long term, and for you that might mean more PH2 foods than it would for me or someone else.

Enit, I've been on P2 for about 2 weeks and I really feel better if I don't add a lot of starches and grains. I've only been eating one serving of grains a day, maybe one serving of fruit, usually not even a whole serving at a time. I love sweet potatoes so I've been eating them a lot, maybe one every couple days. But I do better with grains if I just have a little at a time, and I'm not feeling the wheat at all--really liking the oats and brown rice a lot more. Even whole wheat, it just makes me feel sluggish. But a little brown rice stirred into soup tastes really good to me. I think you just have to experiment to find what you can tolerate. I meant to start slow, I really didn't tho, I just got too excited! lol

Like Vermont Mom, I'm afraid of the Phase 2 stuff. I could be eating a lot more of what I didn't during Phase 1, but I'm doing well enough as is with a few additions.

Someone on another thread suggested adding one new thing at a time so you can see how your body reacts. One week fruit, the next grain - maybe one type of grain, and then another. Makes sense, since this is how allergy detection diets work.

I added grain first - just quinoa and brown rice -- and was fine.

Then I added fruit, and my cravings for sweets went up, so I now limit myself to one serving a day that is part of a meal rather than a snack. That seems to help. Berries are my favorite -they're like candy.

And I may remain wheat-free. Allowing myself bread scares the heck out of me. This morning my daughter said that cereal for breakfast just makes her hungry. I'm guessing it's the grains at work - and not enough protein from the milk.

Hi!

I do find that fruit makes me hungrier.. not neccesarily craving anything more, just hungrier. But I still have 1-2 servings a day because I feel like I need it for the bathroom stuff. LOL.
I prefer brown rice as my carb/grain serving. 1/2 a cup with dinner is a really nice addition for us. I also enjoy 1/2 of a whole wheat english muffin a couple of times a week. That with peanut butter is a nice, quick breakfast when I am sick of eggs.

I have not had much success with pasta, I find that the tiny portion of pasta leaves me feeling deprived (I used to eat HUGE bowls of it), so I prefer to have my spaghetti sauce over squash.

It really is an experiment.. you have to see what your body wants!
Good luck .
