It's snowing like crazy here! I think I'll pass on the morning news since my day just consists of paperwork. I've been on track with exercise and today it will be "shoveling". I'm sitting upstairs in the office and it's a bit chilly so I've grabbed a sweater. Food was OP yesterday and I think I'll come up with a plan today for something warm and soothing...perhaps a black bean/spaghetti squash/green chile soup since I have leftovers in the fridge.
Up early and getting ready for my trip to town and then off the work. Hopefully, it will be a short work day for me since I won't get there til 11:00.
I ordered the SB Cookbook, only because I tend to like to have a book in hand, but I do agree the site offers so much. But I really enjoy hearing what everyone is cooking, gives me ideas I won't think of on my own.
Hope everyone has a great Friday, how could you not after all it is Friday!
Mornin' Debbie! Mmmmm, that soups sounds delish. And I would love to have some of your snow too!!
I have a few quiet moments (with really strong coffee) before the kids get up. I'm meeting a friend for breakfast....I don't really have the time (I need to pack!) but I just need a little break. Everything is starting to wear on me. By the end of next week, my nervous breakdown should be complete! (LOL...I'm visiting my mom next week to help her take care of dad...she's completed her nervous breakdown by now, I am sure)
Surprisingly, the food has not been too bad for my state of mind. Hopefully, that will continue this weekend thru my work conference!
Good morning, Debbie, and thanks for cranking us up. I love making soup with leftovers. It makes me feel so virtuous and "homely" in the old-fashioned sense of the word.
Nice to see our Chickadee chirping in. Hope your work day is short as planned and you can segue into a good weekend. Of the recipes on this site, I think Taco Bake is my favourite. I have three portions in the freezer right now.
No snow to shovel right at the moment but I do have ice to chip off the steps down from the deck. Poor Disney is afraid to go down into the yard once again. (She sneaks around the corner o the part of the deck I can't see and I pretend I don't see her go.) With temperatures below freezing, that ice is there to stay unless I do something drastic.
Finally! Today is the day Cheryl and I get together for lunch. We've been trying since my birthday which is also her birthday. Today we just may make it! So it's gym, coffee at the Diner, a meeting with the Mill curators and then off for a girly lunch. Tonight I have a Vestry meeting at Claire's followed by dinner. We used to eat and then meet but learned that is not a good idea with a bunch of Anglican winos! It's also Book Club movie night at Heather's - Grapes of Wrath, popcorn and jammies but I must skip that, alas. Book club is here at my house mid-month (Cottage will get to meet the crazy bunch) but tonight is an extra.)
So that's my day. I will try to do something useful in the afternoon - like tackle those darned T4 slips for the 2010 employees. (I forget what they are called in the USA - it's a record of wages and deductions. (W-something?)
Time to get ready for gym - I'm going, rvrn if Donna bails.
I'm up early so as not to lose a minute of my 3 day weekend. Actually, though, I heard my son come in from working the nightshift, and thought I'd join him for a few quiet moments. The poor guy has a 2 hour break before he has to leave for his other job.
The only thing I have on my agenda for today is some grocery shopping, and I'll pop in to visit Mom & Dad since I'll be gone for the rest of the weekend. I'm leaving tomorrow morning to spend Saturday and Sunday at my daughter's in NJ. Carley has two dance events tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to that.
Good morning ladies the coffee sure tastes good this morning. We finally ordered another box of k-kups, but I also love drip.
Well I am the odd one out because Fridays are my Mondays..as I work weekends, I have Wed. and Thursdays off, so I am not as much as a happy dancer when Friday approaches but I had two good days off.
Ruth, our ice on our steps is here to stay for a while also! 12 degrees out there this morning.
Today is my one week mark on Phase 1 I feel very good!
Good morning I've gotten used to the 30s and keep forgetting it's just February I'll have to remember to bundle today though it is going up to 30ish.
Debbie - That soup does sound good. I'm going to come up with something for the crockpot too. It's a little challenging because I'm the only one eating so it better be something I really like. How much snow are you expecting ?
Chickadee - How did it go with the second opinion yesterday?
Twynn- At least twice a week I think if I just lose my mind completely it will be so much easier. Sadly that never happens. Keep remembering to eat healthy foods, resist the carbs, and take little breaks for you. I'm not going to challenge you for that snow, you are welcome to it. I really should live someplace warmer
Ruth - Sounds like a full and fun day! We have W2s and 1099s here.
Poor Disney, I don't blame her. Ice scares me. Happy gyming
Cottage - safe travels, bet Carley loves having you at her recitals.
Holly - Bet you will be busy this weekend too. Congratulations on completing week one!
I broke down and ordered a juicer yesterday with overnight delivery (that was DW's idea!). Turns out a friend of hers was using a tube for 3 years and also didn't want the scary cans. He added lots of fresh juice and credits that for helping his recovery so she is very enthusiastic about it now. I was really counting on the reboot site and their nutritionist for tips for juicing for a diabetic but their new site is still in the flaky stage. Hope it comes back up today. It should be easier since taste won't be an issue she won't care if it's all veggie and very little fruit. I'm looking forward to using it once produce season really kicks in. Anyone have any favorite recipes (I'm looking at you Chickadee ) ?
Other than that excitement it's the same old around here. Time to do some hardcore cleaning.
Happy Friday (some days I wouldn't even know what day or month it is without this thread!)
Debbie - We are getting rain instead, which we really need. Thunderstorm right now.
chickadee - Did you have the second opinion already? How'd it go?
Twynn - Hang in there!
Ruth - Another busy day for you! Serious reading.
Linda - Enjoy your long weekend.
Holly - One week down; good for you
Cyndi - It was 60 here yesterday and in the 40s today. Quite an unseasonable winter for us. But I'm not complaining! I'm curious to see the recipes since I've never juiced but it is all the rage right now. Even Dr. Oz does it!
I'm playing internet catch up after being gone all day yesterday and my email now finally working right again! (I hate a cluttered email inbox!)
We had a long day with MIL. Got there early and managed to finagle an appointment for her with the ortho so we could skip the ER but it wasn't until late afternoon. So sat around helping her ice knee. Turns out she has bursitis. Should clear up by next week. She's in a lot of pain and really struggling to stand/sit so I think we need to have people there most of the time. My BIL is going today.
Off to the gym with mom this morning. This afternoon we pick up our three little (5, 7, and 10) nephews; we are babysitting them overnight.
morning all! Popping in to say hello and I hope you all get a good jump start on the weekend. I've been stuck in the house all week! I tried to put a brace on today but with the swelling, I can't get it around me knee!
Hey guys,
Sorry for the late check in. I actually typed a whole post earlier but it got lost and then I had to get my son ready for school. I took the morning off work to help get the church rummage sale set up, and now I have an appointment with a vascular surgeon to see if something can be done about this truly scary varicose vein I have in my leg. We will see - hopefully insurance will cover everything.
My eating has been strange lately, or should I say my feelings about eating now that I am "maintaining." I'm still trying to navigate how much I can eat without really gaining weight, although I'm prepared for a 2-3 lb. gain as I figure all of this out. I'm enjoying what I'm eating and just basically requiring myself to stay with on plan healthy foods. I'm eating when I'm hungry or when I want something to eat and we'll see if it's too much, or just right. I've never given myself "permission" to gain weight before, except when I was pregnant! So far I have not really gained anything, but it's only been less than a week.
Hope everyone has a great day today. I don't know if I'll be able to check in over the weekend as we'll be away, but if not ~ see you Monday and root for the Giants if you can.
So I got called into work this morning. The regular gal had a stomach bug. I'm sorry she's ill but don't mind the $$....besides my exercise goal for the week is 40 minutes every day I don't work so I'm covered for the day.
Cyndi, we already have 12-15" and it's snowing like crazy. I don't know when it's supposed to stop. When Kirk was in intensive care I regularly put fresh juices in his feeding tube. I always used carrot as a base but would always add beets and something green...kale or spinach now.
I'm on hold with IRS now....trying to finish what I was "supposed" to do today.
