Default Hi!

Hello! I have lurked around here for like a year, just recently started posting. I am 24 and married with no children.

I have lost 40 lbs and hope to lose 24 more. I had always been active and a normal weight until I became ill with fibromyalgia at age 18. Since that time the weight slowly added up until I hit 199 lbs. I saw that number and freaked out and decided that I needed to do something now! I really want to avoid heart disease and diabetes that many in my family have suffered from. So in Jan. 2010 I started losing weight. It was so hard and slow and I had to fight for ever ounce only to lose 15 lbs in 6 months. Then my grandma died and I just didn’t care. I stopped eating right and exercising. I gained back 5 of those pounds I worked so hard for. Then I accidentally discovered that eating gluten free helped my fibro. About 20 pounds dropped off, and I was able to lose 20 more with diet and exercise. So about 30 pounds in 3 months. Then, my grandpa and uncle died the same week, a month later a great uncle and family friend died, and a month after that my mom’s “adopted” mother died, then a month after that my mom went to the hospital with pulmonary embolism, and could have easily died. So needless to say, amidst all this, weight loss was put on hold. I maintained my 40 lbs loss this time. Now I’m ready to lose those last 24 pounds, and turning to this forum for support while I do so! I really enjoy participating this time, instead of just watching!

So, anyway that is my little story, and I’m glad to be here!

Congrats on what you've lost already! Maintaining your weight loss during a difficult time was probably really hard, so I applaud you for that as well! Good luck on the rest of your journey

Seashell, welcome, glad to have you join us. I sorry to hear about all that your have been through. I suggest you look for a Challenge or Support group to join; small check-in groups make it easier to connect, get involved, and be accountable. We have groups centering around specific diets plans, themes, or age groups, so find one that inspires you and just post to join! Be sure to check out the 20-somethings and the Dieting with Obstacles.
